I'll be back....?!

letter has been received!
I am throwing in the towel this round since I got the letter in the mail for the Oct DB. The fat lady has sung this time but I will be back in a year following my dream to work at SWA. 7 references called, a letter I wrote Herb K. back in 1998 telling him that this was where I wanted to be when I started my flying career and his response, 2 in house recs both of whom were called.

I am looking forward to my next chance and loved every bit of the interview. I have tasted LUV and me "likes". Good luck to all I am looking forward to flying as your F.O. over at LUV maybe about this time next year. Until then I will drool everytime I see the Canyon blue. What a ride it has been..........

Good Luck to all for the Nov DB. I hope everyone gets the call.

What do they ask the people (references that is) that they call? Is it a general did you write this letter and know the person or what?

references

they call and ask all sorts of stuff. Like asking your buddy what they know about you and wanting to work at SWA. Type of person you are. Personality and experiences that they have had with you.

I had a friend interviewed in September and hired - no references called. References called is not the majic yea or nea - just part of the process.

It is seems pure voodoo at times. Some get refs called, others nothing. Some hired, most not. I would love to be the "fly on the wall" at a decision board to learn more. There is no magic answer, i.e. once three refs called you're in or whatever. It won't happen. Best of luck to all. I'm waiting too.

How long does it usually take for them to check your Rec's after the interview?

Have heard some rumblings of either thr 14th or even as early as the 8th or 9th? Can anyone (with a good source) confirm or add to the rumor?

Still no more references checked? I wonder if their overloaded or done. I hope overloaded.

For all of you recent SWA interviewees, how much time passed from the time you submitted your online resume to when you got the call for an interview. Also, how long was it between getting asked to come and the actual interview? Finally, how many are they hiring per month?

Good luck to all of you. I got hired by SWA 5 years ago and went with another carrier. (Don't ask.) But it was a positive experience. I'm hoping they'll give me a second chance.

Time Line

On line app. - getting the email for an interview = 2.5 years

Getting email - time of interviewing = 2.5 weeks

Day of interiview - until Ref's called = 6 days

Looks like 40 to 50 a month based upon the 600 figure for the year. At least that many next year is the word.

This is all I know, hopefully it helps.

Good Luck!!!

On line app. - getting the email for an interview = 3 months

Getting call to interview - time of interviewing = 4 weeks

Day of interiview - until Ref's called = 15 days and still waiting

When I went they were doing 24 people per day 4 days per week.

Have fun!

So there's anywhere from 3 months to 2.5 years to wait for a call from SWA? Can anyone suggest why there's such a disparity between the two posts above? The two gentlemen obviously both had at least the min quals. Was one so much more qualified that he went in just 3 months?

When I got called years ago I was under impression it was more of a first in first out situation. Is it possible they are skipping over people?

...Yes

On line app. - getting the email for an interview = 2.5 years

Getting email - time of interviewing = 2.0 weeks

Day of interiview - until Ref's called = 6 days

Day of DB to the phone call from the PD that I had enough cool points - 2 days.

Time from the DB to first day of class- 2 months to the day. Interviewed Aug 8th and start Nov 8th.

Hang in there. It will happen if this is what you truly want.

I heard it confirmed today in OAK that November 14th is indeed the next DB. Eight more days of nerve-wracking wait.......

Does another day really matter once the ulcer is formed?

From the sounds of it, Mil time and PIC 121 regional time are the first to get called. From reading the posts and from the guys in my HPA class, the Regional 121 guys got called within weeks of the type, as well as the Mil guys. The 6 135 guys (me being one) have had no call.

Antidotal evidence points to - (as per getting the interview sooner then later).

121 PIC time in a jet = Good
Mil time in heavy turbo prop or jet = Good
121 PIC time in turboprop = Fair
135 PIC time (Lots) in Jets = Fair to good.
135 PIC time in Turbo Props = Not so good.

Who knows, there is always the exception to the rule!

Good luck to all, as I find a way to strap a Nipco to the King Air I fly so I can call it jet time???

DB is the 14th. Anywhere from 2 days to a week to recieve the good news call. Either from the CP or Assistant, or the People Department.

I have no idea how long it takes to get the letter.

Good luck to all.
