Looking at some numbers today showed that between the folks who have been trained so far & those projected to enter class with new classes (3 in Aug, 1 in Sept) show the total at the end of the class in Sept at being at 430+ pilots. That would leave about 60 pilots to come to training in the last quarter. That is of course assuming all things were as planned, 500 pilots for the year. I saw on the quarterly report today that one airplane from '07 is being moved forward to '06 which might generate some more pilots.

good luck to all & hope to see those who wish to come to SWA on the line soon. cheers,

Does anyone know what the experience level is required for an interview these days? (Civilian time)
And if you have that experience how long for the call?

A civilian commuter buddy of mine just told me he got the interview call with about 1370 PIC turbine, 6000tt. Don't recall the timeframe, but believe it was a month or two after sending app in with type.

Success ratio?

Does anyone know what the take rate is for those being interviewed?

A well qualified friend was recently turned down after references were called.

Based on my experience and from those of others I have spoken to regarding this issue, they take from 25-35% of those they interview.

Just got the invite for Aug interview, 4yrs4mo from my 1st try there. 6300tt 2400PIC Turbine. Hope second times the charm.

Careful who you select for references.

I know 3 guys in their 40's that interviewed this month. All were check airmen with 10,000+ hours and 737 types. I was surprised because all three are on at least scumbag airline number 8 and are former freight doggs. Just not the normal SWA profile.

Don't know if this helps, but recently got the "good news" from the phx assistant chief 2 weeks ago! Interviewed beginning of June with 1350 pic/turbine and 3600 total. Did the type at Higher Power and so far, 6 out of 8 guys in my type class that got called for the interview got hired. Higher Power definitely has some pull. Heard that out of the 140 guys that interviewed in May, over 70 got hired. Odds are goin' up. Finally, SWA is lookin' to hire 5000 through 2012. Obviously very excited to be on the front end of the push! Good luck to everyone!

Depends on how well the group interviewed. I've heard of some DB's where they selected over 75% of the candidates....and some where they only took 20%.

Bottom line is that you and your group of friends interviewed well and did good on the LOI....thats about it. As far as where one gets his type....

A type is a type is a type is a type is a type......SWA really doesn't care where you got it....and as of yet, Higher Power doesn't sit in on the Decision Board

Got Hired Without the Type

Hired without the type 5300 TT and 2400 PIC Turbine.
