For an airline that says they want to see ATA make it, they sure aren't doing us any favors.
I *hope* I am wrong for I know *many* ATA folks, all good guys and girls, but to me this smells like SWA has clearly decided the days of ATA are numbered and so SWA is doing what is best for them alone, not for the combination of SWA/ATA which likely won't last much longer. The rumors around here speak to that daily.

With dim prospects of getting Wright repealed, no help in SEA, SWA will move it's next fight to the Denver area. In 12 months they will threaten to build a new terminal in COS, as Denver will be pegged as too crowded and too expensive.:D

Like Western Pacific?

Well, it does appear the orderly dismantling of ATA is proceeding on course. I would fear, that it is only a matter of time, before further routes are pulled from ATA.

Whatever happened to the 737-3/4 that ATA was getting, has that been deep sixed?

Very contrary, this is the nudge (bull-dozing shove) that will send TED into the abyss of memorable names like MarkAir.

As for F9, this is really good news. We welcome the increase passenger flow that SWA brings to every airport they serve.
Even when the increased passenger flow will be away from F9? I am not sure I understand your optimism.

Ticket prices and CASM being comparable, which they will be, I believe F9 offers a superior product to the customer.

The "Southwest Effect" has a history of increasing passenger traffic for all carriers at airports where Southwest introduces service. I'd imagine that Frontier has to be expecting that.

Leads me to believe that SWA never had any intention "helping" ATA out. The plan all along was to get some more gates, test a few markets, keep FL out of MDW, and eliminate some competition. Maybe acquire an ETOPS certificate on the cheap.

...and so SWA is doing what is best for them alone

Hasn't this always been the case? SWA managment is very capable of doing this again, even to it's own.

Rumors around here speak hourly. GK and other upper managment was circling the offices last week. Chief Pilot's office believes it's own lies. Union is full of "it." The latest "end date" appears to be Nov. 9. Hearing in HH Lorch's court. Time to $hit or get off the pot.

Hmmm, possibly leaving Big D. If Dallas/Ft Worth residents don't believe WN holds a grudge, just ask any resident of Denver.

Typical conversation I have with my friends in Denver:

"When is Southwest going to fly into Denver?"

Me - "Never, never, and never!!!!!! Denver has a better chance of getting service from Ghana Airlines than Southwest. We burned our bridges a long time ago and no amount of butt kissin' will repair the damage done."

C Ya

CB

Never say never.

Halin....I wish all of you the best of luck but c'mon......didn't you see that one coming?

GREAT!!!! I can finally use all my free tickets without having to drive first to a service city.

They dumped SFO a few years back, landing fees were too high and WX delays too common. I hate that airport.

So SWA is going into Denver. So much with the argument of why they can't go into DFW. I luv you SWA but you need to stop whining about the Wright thing. By announcing you are going into Denver, you have no more excuses for North Texas.

What? One has nothing to do with the other, but you can try to explain.

What people fail to realize is we do not want to get stuck taxiing behind American at DFW any more than we have to. I know this is going to start a war over how we taxi but if you ever get stuck behind an AA jet, you'll know what I mean. Now imagine several hundred of them who are out to get us!

I had a check airman on my jumpseat the other day who said he was giving a new Captain his UOE (IOE FOR CA at SWA). He said the guy was great but he taxied so slow they were almost going backwards. His words were " You are doing great but if we have to pull over to let American by we're going to have to talk!"

I though that was funny.

Yawn .....
nice try, but you cannot compare a location with an alternate airport and one without.

I'm gonna do some great skiing!!!!

Whaaaa??? SWA has never said they "Can't" go to DFW....they have said they "Won't" go to DFW....Huge difference. Especially when other airport managements and airline managements are trying to make their decisions for them. Knida like your next door neighbor telling you what kind of car you should buy.

The argument is....get rid of the restrictions at DAL....plain and simple. Last time I checked, this industry was deregulated.
