After the PD does the backround check will they call to let you know? If so, how long does it normally take after the go ahead call from the DB?

DH2WN,

The background check that occurs after the DB I'm told is a 3rd party background check that does more of a typical "background check", credit, criminal, etc. Those type of resources require a specialist company to do that. The length of time this takes varies but as a general rule from past experience it runs from 4-8 weeks. I'm not sure if there is a formal policy to call folks to declare "you're in the pool" but usually a phone call around the 6 week point after you've received the "continue in the process" call will get you the information you need about whether you're in the pool. I know of folks who never heard from the PD from the previous call I described until they were called with a class date....others were called to say they were "in the pool" but again the important thing is you're continuing in the process if you get the first call....sit back & wait for the next good phone call from the CP. However, a call at the 6-8 week isn't considered a foul either to just "check-in" with them to see where you stand. Good luck!!!

Thanks Chase. I got a call from the company who does the checks because they were having a hard time getting in touch with the HR people at my company. After a few phone calls it was finally taken care of and the person said they were sending the package back to SW. So I'm assuming it's done and I know everything will be to SW's satisfaction. I guess I'll phone the PD department in a few weeks.

That's correct, the PD department does not call you to let you know the background check is over and you are in the pool, they ask you touch base with them after a reasonable amount of time 4+ weeks and they will at that time let you know.

My background check has just been completed. In the beginning, I was told by Kim U. that "no news is good news." After calling her to give her my drug test paperwork number, I didn't hear a word about it until I called her on Monday. She returned my call Tuesday to let me know that everything had gone satisfactorily and that all that was left was to wait for a class date. The check took approximately 6 weeks to complete.

I still don't know quite where I sit in the pool, though. Lots has gone down since I was originally told "June/July" by Kim, and I'd like to know where I am. I don't, however, want to bother Kim a lot, as I know she's extremely busy.

Talked to Kim yesterday. I interviewed in November. Was told if I could be available by 4 May, I could be in that class. One class in March, 2 in April, 1 in May. That's the word.

Monster,

Which day in Nov did you Interview? The possibility of a May class for you is a lot earlier than I would have thought.

CookieMonster,
Also interested in what day you interviewed. I was on Nov. 15 and was not expecting a class to at least June.Sounds like good news though.

CMonster,

Your post prompted me to call Kim today. I interviewed on Nov 16. She said I am 5 classes out... maybe 4, which would mean an "early summer" training date. I was expecting Jun/Jul, but I'm ready for May if the call comes sooner!

Keep the faith.

I talked to a gal recently that interviewed. She said she interviewed Feb 1, and had a choice of Feb 1, 2, and 3.
