Let me preface this by saying I want to be the last one to help line Kit Darby’s pockets. I think the gouge on this board and select others are just as timely and informative.
That being said I know that SWA normally attends the Air Inc Seminars and hosts an open house when in DAL. They have been listed as “taking resumes” at the conference even though the app window has been closed. I also heard that prior to 9/11 that guys without type ratings who attended the open house were called just as quickly as those with the type rating.
Can any of the poolies or recent hires confirm any of this? With the new “competitive” discriminators in place I don’t know if this would make a difference or not in either the interview queue or at the decision board, but nothing beats pressing the flesh and rubbing elbows.
My app has been in for two years now and I got my type just as interviews cut off in March of 2002. I should have been at the top of the pile, but I’ve been pushing freight in a piston and need to improve my standing.
