Hey Guys,
Spoke personally with LL today and she said the April interview list will be out by the end of this week and calls will start immediately. Good Luck!

Friend with info passed the word on. He is an employee. He did not say anything about calls, only his schedule.

juan.

It means that Don walked over to the PD today on his lunch break when he should have been in the CPT practicing his flows and calls, or better yet, helping me figure out how in the heck to program that (explicative) magic box thingy that I never had in my SAAB. :)

But golly, those CIA agents in navy suits and red ties sure did look nervous over there today. I'm glad I didn't have to do that CPT thing...

I guess I'll grab a bag of chips, and set up my sleeping bag by the phone.

JD:cool:

Well I couldn't stand sitting by the phone so I decided to go through another training cycle (3rd since August) and upgrade. Then I'll get to sit by the phone and wait for SWA or scheduling to call or is it scheduling or SWA.............somebody get the phone please

When the cp from BWI called today to talk with my husband about the March 29th class we talked and chated for awhile. He said that they have over 5000 apps. on file and that 1 in every 20 will be hired during the interview process. So shine your shoes, pull the hair out of your ears, keep your nose clean and pray that you will become part of the SWA family. God Luck to all and remember to always have a good wing man (women) by your side.

One in 20? I thought their success rate during interview was much higher than that, somewhere around one in 7?

If one in 20 is correct, that would mean only +/- 250 of the current 5,000+ applications would pass the interview process - that's not enough to staff for this year's hiring projections if they interviewed ALL 5,000+...?

Quit scaring a poor SWA wannabe!! :D

btw, waited 32 years to find my perfect wing-gal, have to second that advice! ;)

1 in 20?

Why bother even buying a type?

Hooch said:
...1 in every 20 will be hired during the interview process...

In the past it was like 1 in 4. I have heard that with the new interview selection process the success rate may be higher.

Back in '02 (I can't believe I said that), SWA interviewed "around" 800 - 900 people during the months of Jan - Feb - March. It seems like they hired approx. 200 of those interviewed. So that would support the 25% theory.
Again, just theory but definately much higher than 5%. SWA has no quota's and will hire all that are a good "fit" with the company. Good luck to all and don't worry about percentages, just the things you can control.

I think you guys misinterpreted what was stated. 1 in twenty is probably the percentage of those hired to those that apply. Not those that interview. It is a meaningless number in my opinion. It would be an extreme waste of $$$ to only hire 5% of those interviewed. The hiring percentages are supposed to go up from the historic 25% due to the competitive screen versus the first in first out policy. Think about it, it only makes sense. Go ahead and get the type, and not let these rumors affect your already good judgement.

Hiring 1 in 4 or better seems to be more likely and more consistent with what RK from the PD told my HPA class when she came to visit. Basically she said that if you get called for an interview the want to hire you, you've met their requirements, now it's about you as a person and your attitude. Can they sit with you for 8 legs a day on a 2 or 3 day and still want to go have dinner or drinks with afterwards. Now the million dollar question is what's it going to take to be the 1 in 20 of apps to get the interview. Hopefully as the calls go out for April we'll get sense of what SW is looking at.:)

Decision board

I don't know when the hiring board is getting together, however I do know that the electronic recommendation that SWA pilots are doing for the interviewees must be submitted by April 6th. So as a WAG I would suspect that the board is after that date.

Bluto,

I went to aviationinterviews to see what you'd posted, obviously out of curiousity not because I'd need it, and after navigating through a fairly confusing site I can't find anything more recent than 2002. I'm guessing that others will have the same experience that I did. Would you be willing to post your thoughts here?

Thanks, and best of luck!

(after talking with someone fairly close to the LOE development for a while, I'm interested to hear what you thought of it -- not specifics, but general impressions.)

I interviewed with SWA on Monday (March 8). Out of respect for SWA's request of us not to talk about the new procedures (LOI) I will refrain from saying much.

I will say that the one on one interviews were as advertised in the past. The LOI is NOT a big deal at all. If you have been flying as captain and are used to making decisions "on the fly" you will have no problem at all.

I wish I could say more but I want things to remain as fair as possible for the guys who are interviewing in the near future. (I don't feel that I would have been any more prepared for the interview if I had known anything more about the LOI beforehand)

Don't sweat this thing. They are looking to see if you are honest, humble, have a since of humor, and want to work for SWA. If you have all of these things, you will have no problem.

Good Luck to everyone.

Bye the way, I heard the Decision committee was scheduled to meet on April 12, but has been rescheduled for sometime after that due to Easter.

SWA April Interview Invitations?

Wondering if any lucky folks have gotten the call for an interview in April or if you know of any folks who have. Could it be that the folks getting calls do not frequent this board? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

April interview calls are out

SWA has started calling at the beginning of the week for April interview dates. If you are sitting there wondering what you might need in case they call here is a list of some things you might wish to get handy so in case you need extra time finding them, you'll be ahead of the game & not scrambling.

1. A copy of your High School Diploma (or GED equivalent)
2. A copy of your college diploma(s) (if applicable)
3. Copy of your first class medical certificate
4. Copy of your ATP certificate (both sides)
5. Copy of your US Passport and driver's license
6. Copy of your logbook records (something easy to read & understand for the reviewers).

There are other forms that will be sent to you & the instructions are self explanatory about what you do with them. These items above shouldn't be a big deal but for some folks the HS diploma (GED) or college diploma may require some fast scrambling to get in time to meet the deadline for the interview.

If you haven't already run a recent credit check it isn't a bad idea to do one just to see if identity theft may have impacted your rating. Nationa driver's registry is another one that doesn't hurt to look at in advance so you know there are any surprises there either.

Just some thoughts for those waiting on the call. Interviews have gone smoothly. The "new process" isn't really anything to sweat over. As folks have said it is like the old process in that SWA is still looking for the "real you" & isn't looking for anything different than what it has looked for in the past. Be yourself, relax enjoy it, enjoy the time at SWA meeting some great interviewees/interviewers & visiting the SWA facilities. Good luck to those who have gone this week & to those who will be going in the future. To those awaiting the call, start your preparation now so you won't be caught off guard or are scrambling for forms or prerequisites at the last minute. Cheers,

these items i assume are to be brought to the interview, not something you need to have ready to send to SWA when they call correct?

answers

Saabcpt,

Yes, when you come to the interview, pls have copies of these documents.

batsky2000,

Yes, HS/GED diploma paperwork. This is often times the tough one but that is why I'm putting it out there now vs. you having to scramble for it later. Start looking/investigating how to find yours/get a new one/copy of old one. I hope I didn't ruin your day.
cheers

As a previous PD Pilot Recruiter this is what I can tell you about the process. They have not made an significant changes to the overall process the goal is to find the best Customer Service Oriented Pilot that believes in the SWA Philosophy. From what I understand about the additional LIO is to make sure you can handle yourself under pressure. Feedback so far is if you know what you are doing its not a being deal.

The interview is mostly about you as a person - are you the type of individual that SWA wants in front of their customers.

There are some keys to the process if you want more information please email me. [email protected]

SWA goal is to get the best person for the job. Who has what SWA is looking for in flight skills and fit with the company.

I hope this has helped - I know there is a lot of talk now that interviews are starting back up. Just remember to BE YOURSELF!!! Nothing more, nothing less.

Chase (or anyone who might know),

Do you know a range of how much Total time, Turbine time, and PIC turbine time that these guys, who have gotten interviews so far this month, have? I broke the PIC turbine min during the hiring freeze and have been waiting for years to be able to apply....the suspense is killing me.. :) Thanks in advance

Quals for those being interviewed

For those of you who are getting called to interview with SWA: Could you post you flight time/aircraft/quals so we can get a sense of how the scoring system is working out.

Cheers,
Loogie
