Latest rumor going around Skywest is that there is a "done deal", (to be announced in Januaury) that they will fly up 100 CRJ 1000's for Southwest Airlines. I hope this is just another quick upgraders delerium. Just what we need more RJ's, more under paid non-union pilots with basement level benifits and retirement packages. SWA guys tell me this isn't going to happen right..? Will we ever learn..
Any truth to this RUMOR?

I agree...I'm hearing the same thing too...

I've heard this to some degree at work and from a SWA captain when I rode the JS about 3 weeks back. Heard it was going to being only Int'l ops for SWA though...if it actually happens.

ANY RJ codeshare will be unacceptable to me and an autmatic NO vote on the contract. Unfortunately, I think the company will want this in the future.

Heard the same rumor right here.

Also heard that it would be announced today. And, now that today has arrived we're going to push back the conformation until Januaury?

in the slight chance this would be true how would they staff 100 more aircraft?

I hope SWA pilots can stop it.
Seems like the best thing to do would be to just take the smaller airplanes and insist that SWA pilots fly them. Otherwise, well look around the industry, our profession continues its outsourcing, lack of unity and backslide.

Might be a great opportunity for you eagle FOs to jump ship to Skywest, and get in on the ground floor. They may even negotiate a flow-thru to Southwest.

You and me both.

And not just RJ Codeshare. I don't care if it's RJs or 747's. As far as I'm concerned, when the pax count meets our break even load factor it needs to be flown on a SWA airplane by a SWA crew. Period.

Anything else and I vote no.
