Hello friends!
Kindly suggest me some economical pilot training school.
I found Ari-Ben Aviator quite cheaper in comparison to DCA,FSA and ATP..
Something interesting I found in there brochure is that in a specific course out of total 222 flying hours, 200hrs are of multi-engine.
'Am an international student and seeking for pilot training in USA.
How does it matter if somebody gets more experience into multi-engine and has lesser number of hours in single engine flying?
What does airline prefer?
Please suggest..!
Thanks for reading this text.

If you're looking for economical, then doing a course where 90% of your total time is in a multi would be exactly contrary to that. I wish I had more multi time than I do (71 hours), but damn if I can afford the $200/hour pricetag. Not cheap.

My opinion: Go find a school with a rickety C152 for $70-$80/hour. You'll be able to knock out your private for cheap, but keep in mind that going for professional pilot credentials is really expensive. You'll spend a lot of money either way, but going to a smaller FBO is probably going to save you a lot more money than if you went to a big academy.

which school...

Thanks unreal!
I understand your point.
I thought of getting some 100hrs plus multi-engine and not less than 600hrs in total.
Could you suggest some schools?or 'smaller FBO' as you say.
Actually from the websites difference of big or small academy is really blurred. So 'am dependent on kind advices :)

For 100 hours of Multi and 600 hours total, you have a lot of options. Keep looking and weigh all of the options.

Good luck!

Everybody says FBOs are cheaper. My flight school is a regular "ragedy" FBO. I calculated that the total cost till the CFI rating, with no multi-engine would be around 35K. Do the math, 300 hours of C172 at 100 bucks is 30K, then include the flight instructor cost, FBO doesn't seem so cheap anymore. I am actually looking at ATP and Ari-ben right now. Planning on flying down to Flordia this JUL.

That is alot cheaper than the 80k that the academys are charging these days.

I fly at an FBO, all my ratings, thru MEI including 50 hours of Twin time. Books, Written tests, charts all included $27,000.

Way cheaper than anywhere else you are going to find.

Oh, and thats all one on one training. All in actual aircraft. Not flying simulators and doing safety pilot crap. Look into those programs closer. You will find that the actual time you get in aircraft and actual acting as sole manipulator is far less than advertised.

Do your research, and don't buy the hype.

mesquite, tx - khqz. c-150 $58/hr wet, $35/hr instruction. that will get you thru private and instrument for not a lot of $$$.

how important is multi time? Do most carriers require it to get in the door?

They all require a minimum of 100 hours Multi and 1000 hours total. That is the bare minimum for regionals or corporate.

The best path is to get your CFI and MEI ratings, then instruct as you build your time. Including Multi Engine. Once you are at the minimums you can start applying and go from there.

This path allows you to make a modest amount of money while instructiong. Instead of paying for the hours yourself. It will also make you a better pilot.

You will need 250 hours total time about to acquire these ratings and be employable. You are looking at about $30,000 on the low side for this.

All these guys that have said 27K which is BS anyways these days for all the cost of training have forgot to include the 20k for 100 hours of Multi-engine time. If you want to find and associate with a crowd that wants to get their foot into the airlines and make a few connections while your at it then go through an academy. If you wan't to find rich guys who are looking for a second hobby and 60 year olds who do nothing but talk smack about the FAA talk about the good old days and then go through an FBO.

Well you have to be retarded to pay 80k for flight training. Try 35K for Ariben or 45 for ATP.

You have to be retarded to drop 20g's on 100 hours of multi also. I see the academy marketing tactics have had their effect on you.

I know of at least two FBO's in FL where you can get a 152 for $65 and a nice older IFR 172 for $80. Split your time up after the instrument with another SP doing hood work and your are at 250 hours for under $20k.

So because the FBO this guy goes to isn't what he wanted. That means ALL FBO's are the same.

I can only tell you what I am paying. $27,000 for 260 hours total time and 50 hours of Multi. Thats all ratings thru MEI. I will get the additional multi-time as an instructor. I'll give you the phone number to call for this same deal if you like.

I agree! Keep in mind though the 45k is just a quote (minimum) and does not include a place to stay, food, etc. There are more expenses than just the flight training.
