hello timeoff!timeoff said:You have to be retarded to drop 20g's on 100 hours of multi also. I see the academy marketing tactics have had their effect on you.
I know of at least two FBO's in FL where you can get a 152 for $65 and a nice older IFR 172 for $80. Split your time up after the instrument with another SP doing hood work and your are at 250 hours for under $20k.
Aha...thats really great finding for me desertdog71...!desertdog71 said:So because the FBO this guy goes to isn't what he wanted. That means ALL FBO's are the same.
I can only tell you what I am paying. $27,000 for 260 hours total time and 50 hours of Multi. Thats all ratings thru MEI. I will get the additional multi-time as an instructor. I'll give you the phone number to call for this same deal if you like.

ya...thanks timeoff....timeoff said:AVO and BOW.
CX880 said:I don't ride 152s. I've never seen a ifr172 for $80 around here especially with the rising fuel prices. And the 20g, that's from my FBO not from an academy. Actually people have told me to go through ATP for multi training.
SiuDude said:Thank god epaulets are included!
Way2Broke said:I'll admit when I am wrong, and I was wrong. How many ratings do they expect you to do in 90 days?
flyingnome said:but that program is hardcore and they expect you to be flying everyday in order to get Pvt through CFII in 90 days.
CX880 said:All these guys that have said 27K which is BS anyways these days for all the cost of training have forgot to include the 20k for 100 hours of Multi-engine time.
If you want to find and associate with a crowd that wants to get their foot into the airlines and make a few connections while your at it then go through an academy.
If you wan't to find rich guys who are looking for a second hobby and 60 year olds who do nothing but talk smack about the FAA talk about the good old days and then go through an FBO.
120 for an SP and 192 for a Duchess is excellent? Glad we don't have the same definition of excellent.Way2Broke said:

No, you become a Multi Engine Instructor...instruct in a multi engine aircraft.CX880 said:You mean your CFI pay goes to pay for your multi engine time?
unreal said:Seriously, that's retarded. I flew EVERY DAY in the summer for my CFI/CFII/MEI, and it took me a bit over 8 weeks. You're talking about Private -> CFII in ~13 weeks, which is (for most people) barely enough time to even get a Private certificate.
I couldn't imagine the burnout rate, not to mention that flying everyday for 90 days is a horrible way to have a student learn effectively. Do they really expect a student to be at any more than a rote level, or is it just a school that gets you the ratings without ensuring that you know how/why things happen the way they do?
agreed it can be done I have seen it happen, but it has to become your life and only those that are 110% dedicated will get it done. Remember to be accepted to the quick program you must already be a private pilot with 85 hours and 25 hours cross country... so its just IFR-CFII.. I made a mistake earlier by saying PVT-CFII.Slice121 said:I did my IFR thru MEI in 10 weeks back in the day. Flew almost everyday multiple times per day. It can be done.
CX880 said:You mean your CFI pay goes to pay for your multi engine time?
Goose Egg said:By having an MEI, I am actually paid to accumulate multi-engine flight time by instructing in multi-engine airplanes. I know, it's a novel concept for some.
