truth is, if pilots ever had to sniff the aroma of a free market, they would be out of a job in 2 weeks.....or at best, pay completely gutted

Gulags were borderline slaves. Pilots are exploited employees who's passions for profession are "exploited" by corporate managements and market demand or lack there of. Pilots self inflict and self direct much of their own miseries as much as corporate continues to exploit a pilots tolerance on the principal they are passionate about a career and will tolerate less than desirable career compensation or opportunity. Aside from a terminology and spell correction debate, if you believe someone warrants the title of "idiot" give them the courtesy of personal address rather than a cyber projected attack from an anonymous location.

I work 16 days a month, am home usually half of the day on 8 of those and make over $100,000/year. I get 3 weeks vacation a year, soon to be 4. I usually turn one week into 18-22 days off. (That equals 9 weeks vacation to the ave person). I never see my boss and sometimes get to do cool stuff in other cities. I also can fly for free with my family nearly anywhere in the world.

So, wise one..............where should I "move on to" thats such a better gig???? Name me one place and you can count me in!

Ive been out of Aviation for 2.5 years now due to a company layoff. I dont think I would have ever left voluntarily.... thus to me it was a blessing in disguise. I want to thank USA Jet for giving me the opportunity to live a full life.

But junior guys don't like it when it doesn't benefit them, the senior guys love it. Maybe they should go to a non-union airline? Oh wait, they use the same system to avoid being unionized because senior pilots like the seniority system. Yeaaahhh, good luck with that Imagine adding the politics on this board to deciding who upgrades and flys the highest paying equipment, not to mention the month to month schedules.

Do yourselves the courtesy and admit defeat to a well planned and executed fallacy. Leave now and preserve your time in life for the true enjoyment you seek. There NEVER will be a shortage or mass hiring era, seeking qualified pilots or desperate measures to fill empty seats. Stop falling victim to flashy cliches created by fortunate seniors like; "Pay your dues" or subscribing to an impending qualification deficit. The industry has cleverly brainwashed each of us to believe that one day all our sacrifices will be rewarded with our career ambitions and eventually happiness will prevail from years of dedication and tolerance. The ever morphing nature of this industry will continue to "squeak by" on its current staffing levels and capacity while operational changes and regulations continue to derail your career plans as airlines, lobbyists and pilots collaborate and conflict. Do yourself and favor and STOP waiting. If you are in an enjoyable livable aviation position, congratulations, your luck in "timing" was your fortune. For all others Stop wasting your hearts souls and families to the despicable nature of this career. Is is NOT going to change. Move on and enjoy life elsewhere.

There are quite a few captains breaking the 100K barrier. Some instructors and line check pilots break 170K.
