Tell me sir, why are they cancelling flights due to no captains and there is not even an upgrade bid out?

Acc to a shift supervisor they are record short without the plane that comes in September. He heard rumors for July phone calls but nothing firm. New TA or old, they will need people. 3000+ hours of uncovered flying does not just solve itself.

Not a lot, somewhere around twenty off the top of my head.

They got downgraded when the economy went to hades and Spirit cut the fleet size in a panic.

They will need less under the TA than under the old contract. You don't give up reserve efficiency, transition efficiency and add to the max line without sacrificing some staffing numbers. Well done ALPA. You traded the long term promise of big money against staffing and the company won for the first couple of years.

He sounds more like a allegheny/USAir two time loser. Hard to blame those USAir guys for trying to hold on to any job regardless of how much it sux.

It's hard to criticize senior USAirways pilots, they spent most of the last ten years "living to fight another day" and that strategy did pay off after the merger with AmericaWest.
