return to work friday...no vote until first week of july...it all seem like a total bs sham to get us flying again until the end of august when things slow down again...maybe the MEC will all be treated to nice management jobs just like John Ferg

Wait to pass judgment. Remember these are your elected officers. One would hope you put some smart tenacious folks in those positions?

Everyone took a risk by going on strike and nobody should have to return to work until they see, in detail, what their reward was for that risk. You should at least see a semi-detailed summary of the changes and the pay rate tables before the strike ends. You'll never have this much momentum again......what's the rush to get back in the air before the agreement is reviewed by the membership? There shouldn't be any secrets at this point. If you take an agreement now that's barely on par with the low end of the industry it will really look bad a few years down the road and you will be stuck with it for the duration of the agreement as well as the time (years) between the amendable date and the next new contract.

I guess that technically, you still have the right to go out on strike again if the TA gets turned down; I hope that's spelled out in the back to work agreement. I hope the group is happy with the deal and it passes by at a large margin so everyone agrees that the strike was worth it. Good luck and good job maintaining 100% solidarity....that's the way it's done.

Fam62c said it the best. See the goods, THEN decide if you go back to work. But for the MEC to be negotiating 'return to work' without the membership seeing the numbers, is inexcusable!

Starting to smell like another ALPA bend-over job. Let me guess, the MEC are all captains and they get the lion's share of any benefit and screw the FOs. If that ALPA MEC won't even give the executive summary of the contract to the membership before a return to work, I smell a rat. Sounds like the way the ALPA DAL MEC operates.

Could be, could be.....

But it will be a while before you find out.

And, I was not aware the MEC could force it's members back to work from the picket line...NOT GOOD....

So, this could be an ALPA bone-job......

MEC forces it's members back to work...

TA is distributed...

Road shows start..

Then a vote...

etc...

And JUST maybe, ALPA gets the majority.

It's quite possible the TA is structured to do just that.

Good luck....

Two are FO's. Let's wait to see the contract before debating over speculation and misinformaton on the internet.

It is incredibly lame that no details have come out yet - how do you know if it is acceptable if nothing has been released? Very lame.

And by the way, the entire industry is watching... It better be a good deal relative to what you had or you will continue to be compared to Allegiant and VA in terms of "lowish" pay... Time to get what you need while management is on its knees.

Thursday 7:30pm on the east coast and I see Spirit planes in the air on Flightaware, I thought they didn't start until tomorrow.

the strike was technically called off June 16 2010 at 830PM ish...they were looking to operate around 20 flights today and most of the schedule on Friday.

Congrats all at Spirt. Hope deal works for all, but if not remember that when we at Comair were on strike we voted down 2 offers and stayed on strike before we got a deal. Even though still wasnt that great, but got little better each time. Hoping you folks dont have to go any further.

Allegiant is making $153 per hour as CA of a MD-80. Without Union.

Spirit is making $??? per hour as CA of A-321/320/319. With ALPA.

I support ALPA @ Jetblue. This outcome is being watched very carefully amongst the JB pilots.

I was Comair and voted the first couple TAs down. 89 days later we approved our new contract. Flying before seeing and voting on the TA seems counter productive to the use of strike negotiating.

Best of luck to the Spirit pilots and thank you for taking a stand to better this profession.

(Remember, ALPA works for you (the pilot). Not the other way around).

It was ********************ing awesome compared to what I have worked for at Chautauqua after your strike. You guys did great for a regional. There was an older Comair Captain on the 14th walking there with us in FLL. I wanted to shake his hand but I never saw him after the picketing and I choose to walk the full 2 hours instead of BSing.

When the MEC agrees on a TA to vote, and majority of pilot group votes the TA down, does the negotiating clock start all over again?

Would the NMB release Spirit pilots to re-strike immediately if they vote down the TA?

negative... the clock (30 days, etc) does not start over...

Back to work without at least the improved hightlights seems odd!

Not really. It takes time to get the MEC together for a meeting in which they can vote on the agreement. It wouldn't be appropriate to release information about a TA until the MEC has had a chance to read it thoroughly and vote on whether it will go out to the pilots for a vote. That's going to take about a week from when the TA was actually reached. It's not in anyone's best interests, including the line pilots, to remain on strike for an additional week for no reason at all. If the pilots vote down the TA, then you can immediately go back on strike. There is no requirement for an additional cooling-off period of even more negotiations. A strike can begin right away again.

I think it's a bit crazy that guys here are attacking a TA that they haven't even seen yet. Your MEC conducted an incredible strike, with absolute unity. They stood up to management and held their ground until they got a fair deal. I think you can give them the benefit of the doubt until the details come out next week. Trust your reps. They are top-notch.

Some of us have heard details, if these details turn out to be true, FO pay is below Airtran, JetBlue, and Allegiant? Taking it back? ALPA? Prepare for another STRIKE! RETRO is only 7k$? WTF?????

An MEC ends a strike, not a negotiating committee. There is certainly no extra step here on whether the MEC must meet in person to decide if the TA is acceptable for a member vote; that decision would already have been taken in a meeting conducted in person or telephonically. The only reason for some delay is taking agreements in principle and translating it into contract language, which can take time.

I don't want to see the entire thing...just the major points and the pay...there should be no reason to delay if those are acceptable, kind of sounding to me like they are not.

I really hope this isn't another Senior eat their young contract. I am so sick of hearing "don't worry, you will get yours later."

So the public is correct...greedy pilots, that sell out junior F/O's?

Say it isn't so...Spirit MEC by publishing the bullet points and pay rates!

We had the entire flying world behind us and they rolled over and took it right in the can...unfreakingbelievable.

We are still behind you! If you vote it down we will still be there! Unlike PCL 128 I don't believe there is any reason you rush back to work and you most certainly don't tell your pilot group to go back to work until you tell them what they are working for! These men and women walked away from their jobs to better their future, they deserve to know what the are returning for! It doesn't take time to put out a brief outline of the bullet points to keep your membership behind you.

Even if the MEC puts out a summary of the TA and says return to work, without a ratification vote it's difficult to know how the majority of the pilots feel about the TA. So if some want to stay out, but others want to fly, then don't you have a real mess on your hands?

I guess we will have to wait and see. To my friends over there I really hope the TA is worth the effort. With the stagnant nature of this industry now I really hope this TA is fair to the left and right seat. Good luck guys.
