You can be junior manned on reserve by the company (max 5x per year, no more than 2x per month). Other than that, no, reserves can't work on off days. That is not to say that the company and certain notable individuals don't adhere to the contract. They are becoming less and less as the union has been winning more grievances.
 
25.G.2.b.1 refers to filling of open time and is in reference to the order of filling assignments.

It has been a long while last I was on reserve. Which is the section that says the reserve pilot shall not accept an assignment on his days off? I was under the impression you can, as long it is within 2 calendar days.

If the company calls on a day off, a reserve can accept the assignment provided it is withing the junior manning limits. A reserve cannot make themself standing available.
 
Actually, you can be available on your days off with a reserve line, nothing in the contract prohibits it. People do it all the time.

I agree that people do it, but it is actually forbidden in the contract. Reserve pilots may not be standing available.
