After reading the title of this thread I thought that Jim Oberstar had found a new occupation posting on Flight Info. I know now that it's just the usual gaggle--don't know if that's a good thing or bad. Guess I'll just have to be happy that JO doesn't get a vote anymore (and General Lee never will ?)

Mergers and Acquisitions are treated the same under our Contract. Our Contract requires the other airline, in this case, SWA, to sign off on it before consummating the purchase. It's my understanding that SWA has signed it.

Basically, our Contract says that in the event of a merger or a purchase of AAI the operations have to be combined within 18 months and the seniority lists merged according to Allegheny Mohawk or existing RLA law. It also prevents selling off the assets before combining operations.

So what would happen if SWA operated Airtran separately? I have not seen the language of that section of your contract so is it solid that a holding company can not operate Airtran separately?

tranny contract is solid. 98% vote to strike then September 27, 2010.... new contract a few weeks later = rock solid contract.

Better then ours for sure, remember they (tranny) bring everything... As far as Southwest, move along nothing to see here....

Out of both all the SWA pilots and Airtran pilots on this board, the Tranny pilots come off as spoiled children.

This thread is an excellent example of this point. God help Southwest with the acquisition of these misfits.

You mean all five......thank god most of us are willing to leave it to the merger committees.

I hope the 3 wise men leave the troubled 5 off the finished list! :D

Sure seems, after reading volumes on Guadalupe Holdings/SWA/Airtran, that this deal was structured by Airtran and SWA to alleviate the need to ever merge work groups.....I would guess that both Airtran and SWA lawyers worked the issues surrounding the Airtran cba, the SWA cba and whatever minor roll that the Bond/McCaskill legislation would have on this acquisition and structured the deal to avoid any potential road blocks

Read the actual merger document. GH is wholly-owned by SWA and therefore is subject to the restrictions in the AAI Pilots CBA as well as McCaskill-Bond and Allegheny- Piedmont

Honestly, this IS the easiest SLI for an arbitrator:

Put the pre-1992 SWA pilots on the list. Ratio the rest. Done deal. No bump/no flush. All subsequent bid openings awarded using the new seniority list.

There you go.

Not trying to doubt you bro, but I have read that...And all of the 8K and all the other hits on google that relate to the subject.....GH aquires AT. AT becomes AT inc. and is the surviving company.....SWA is the financier and that is about it.....Nothing against GK and SWA but I would not trust them any further than you can throw them.....Remember, this whole deal was hatched between them and the slimy pilot hating pricks that you work for....Not sure any of them care where you end up....

I really can't believe that SWAPA would push to keep the pilot groups separate. Afterall, you know the pre-92 pilots at SWA are pushing for merger, probably the next 10 years of SWA hires as well, only the junior SWA pilots would want separate operations, and over time, if significantly cheaper, the AAI side would open all kinds of problems for the SWA group with them switching to 800's and AAI planning on all those deliveries.... one would think not a great deal even for SWAPA.....
