Hey Fractional Pilots...does your company have any airport requirments with regard to minimum runway lengths? Do you have an SOP regarding the type of airports you are allowed to use? Also, do you have policy regarding circling approaches, high minimums for new crewmembers, etc?

Are you allowed to fly into "out-island" airports in the Bahamas?

Everyone feel free to chime in.

:D

P.S. Anyone ever been into Ragged Island (MYRD) in the southern Bahamas?

That's a very good question. Does yours? I'd be very interested to know what they are with regard to minimum runway length. And SOPs. I'd be willing to bet that they exist...on paper. Do they exist in practice?

At eja yes we do have SOPs that we use, we do circling approachs, there is higher mins for new captains.
Each airframe has its own min runway length. I have been to the smaller island in the bahamas a few times with eja. We will go to any airport in the world that the owners whant to go to as long as it can be done in a safe manner in and out. Granted the smaller planes don't go as far.

Here's what we do in the ultra.

We have a minimum runway length dry. 3500'

Minimum runway length wet, something like 4500'

Runway's that are wet and short usually require PM aproval for landing and departure.

Just did a full stand alone gps circling aproach to mins today in the snow. Fun fun fun

If you even worry about it call the PM.

New captains have high mins.

Forgive me i don't know the numbers i don't have my cheat sheet on me.
