Northwest IFE Problems
While this is not exactly the same system, or installed in the same aircraft or aircraft seat, it doesn't sound like too big of a problem.
"The system offers 16 channels of music, a choice of 10 movies, three video games, shopping and in-flight information on flat-panel monitors embedded in or attached to the backs of seats. The system is on four A330s"
"He said Northwest is the first North American carrier to operate the Matsu**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**a 3000I audio and video system.
The system has had problems, but it's performing more reliably than the entertainment system in the business-class sections of Northwest DC10-30s that fly the Atlantic, he said.
"A very small percentage of seats per aircraft have been affected, and in most cases, the impact on the passenger is a matter of minutes," Ebenhoch said."
The Song package is suppose to be much more extensive than this and offer many more options than JBLU. I believe Song is suppose to offer 45 free satelite channels, pay per view movies, internet access, inflight juke box and games. The first Song aircraft with this system is suppose to start flying this month, with the rest to follow soon after. I'm sure Song will face some of these challenges also.
