lowecur, we were going to have zero saabs on march 28 so keeping 2 would be in the bidders interest to keep an operating certificate valid until they could do whatever they want to do. 2 million is a lot to pay just to run two saabs. The operating certificate must remain active to have any worth at all and I believe that is what the saabs are for. But hey, I'm just a pilot and I didn't stay at a holiday inn express last night.

Obviously, someone has plans. Could be Branson, or it could be a regional like Republic that is hedging their bet in case UAIR goes bust. I doubt anyone plans to p/u where Express left off, so let's just say the bidder has bigger plans for that certificate.

Does Republic have a certificate yet?

Maybe wexford will buy it, move the saabs to shuttle, and give the certificate to Republic. Don't they have to be certified in the near future to comply with the american agreement?

It would be a quick and easy (if not cheap) way for a Beech 1900 operator to add Saabs to their fleet.

Oh, can I answer this one?

Yep, I've heard of GoJet. Am I going to get fired for saying that?

Or it could be a way for someone to sell two Saabs plus parts inventory and other various Chicago Express assets and let the certificate fade away. Not what I would like to see but still a possibility.

My guess would be Colgan.

That's a bargain for 2 operating Saabs plus parts and all that jazz ... Colgan or Shuttle should jump all over that ...

after all we've already hired a bunch of their pilots and bought some of their planes ...

Better than the 35K offer we recieved from a gentelman in bankruptcy court a couple of maonths ago. Don't laugh to hard, yes 35K for the whole thing!!

That was like a few weeks ago...the 35K, right?

It was just before ATA accepted the SWA/ATA codeshare in court. Not sure of the exact date, it all seems to run together with all of the change on our property. I must say I am very pleased with the codeshare and what SWA has offered ATA. Hopefully it will continue well into the future as we restructure and build cash.

Hmmmm, wonder who that could be? Maybe the same company that two weeks ago was talking about $1.5 million for Chicago Express?

What would a saab operator need with another saab 121 certificate?

Excentric collection perhaps ? ;o)

The cert won't make any sense but the aircraft, parts, and maybe people will ...

I have a theory......it will be interesting to find out who the undisclosed bidder is.

Please don't get me started on this.

I have a theory too... I wonder if your theory and my theory are similar....
It wouldn't happen to involve the "Wizzard" that we all respect and trust pulling rabbits out of his hat would it?

Oh wait... I think we just figured it out.... CAPTAIN M is the secret investor!!

There are still a few more SERIOUS bidders looking over the company for a possible bid. (and when I mean SERIOUS I'm talking of the type that will not leak that they are looking until the bid is due) Obviously, the biggest prize is the 121 operating certificate. And the two airplanes ... They are actually the ONLY 2 planes that ATA Holdings owns, therfore the only 2 that could be sold. Everything else including all remaining aircraft, buildings, equipment, widgets...everything is leased!

Bidding ends on March 7th....Then we will see.

Cheers!

Mesaba Airlines... largest Saab Operator with 64 of them.

MAIR holdings, 100+ million cash in the bank, this buyout would be simple for Paul Foley.

..... looking for another entity to get ahold of CRJs from NWA(to work around their pilot contract clause), and NWA looking for a foothold in IND.

Throw in some secret meeting that pulled off all of the Mesaba MEC and LEC reps offline this week and told to sign confidetiality agreements.... hmmm......

Combine that with, there was supposed to be some "big announcement" on Friday, but never occurred.... YET, no Mesaba MEC/LEC reps are talking, STILL tight lipped........ could we hear something Monday when the markets open???

(oh and Mesaba just posted some memos in our crewroom just recently about hiring more full time Saab sim instructors and Line check airmen. Coincidence?)

I'm thinking positive...But the openings for instructors is probably because we are losing a few LCA's to SWA in the very near future. Couple from DTW and I heard at least 1 from MEM.
