Last class had 12 new hires in it and the rest were UA guys coming back. 60-40 regional-military. One ex-UA flight attendant. All in class were awarded Airbus with various domiciles. One of our Directors says we'll probably hire 250-300 between now and June with a pause in the summer and a possible pick up in the fall.

Good luck.

Anyone have the class drop from the 01/07 class?

Typically, pilot demand increases in the summer, not decreases.

Would that drop in the summer have anything to do with a planned merger? Things that make you go hmmm.

...Or sending TK guys to the line to compensate for said increased flying?

Just as CAL slows hiring in the summer to get the instructors out flying the line due to increased summer block hours.

A guy hired in June wouldn't be line qualified until about the end of August. September/October are the some of the slowest times of the year for airlines. If you want a guy ready for the busy summer flying schedule, you would hire them by March.

It make total sense that hiring would slow by June when you anticipate a block hour reduction after Labor Day.

I realize all that. I was just fishing for the merger maniacs. Looks like I got skunked out today.
