Next time you jumpseat on mainline, ask the pilots how important scope is.
The paradigm has shifted since 2001. Past precedence is not a guarantee to future events. Just how many contract negotiatons have you seen in your career? You underestimate the resolve and power mainline pilots hold this time around. Any pilot with half an ounce of aspiration to make it to somewhere better is behind the fight for mainline to strengthen scope. All you do is come with childish, immature names to call people who disagree with you. It shows your level of intellect, and lack of maturiry.
I'm sure it's important, so......
Until the mainline pilots can figure out how to;
-get out out of and pay for long term contracts. SkyWest has contracts with United for the next 11 years and Delta for 7. Not cheap!
-figure out a way for a mainline pilot, mechanic, FA, and all the other employee groups to run a small jet for a profit. I'm pretty sure a majority of the pilots aren't too eager to take a 20-30-40% paycut to substain what is basically for the junior FO.
-entice every legacy pilot group to simultaneously take a monumental pay cut to convince management to bring the planes on the property. Because unless every bodies cost are in line (read increased) they wont be competitive.
-and, among hundreds of other reasons, figure out a way to rid the market for a need for small jets.
Probably not going to happen.
So, other than stomping your feet, holding your breath, and not wearing a hat, it appears there's not much can be done. Mainline lost their virginity on this flying long ago.
Just because you don't like regional's and want the flying for yourselves, is not what's called;
wait for it;
A BUSINESS PLAN?
You do have a plan? Right?
