No one is getting DOH on anything. The United Furloughs who may or may not go to the right seat of the 70 seater (although I have heard that the Skywest pilots will be able to fly both the 50 and 70 seaters---so that doesn't make sense)---would still be at the bottom of the list. And, had Comair allowed the Delta furloughs to not have to resign their numbers, they would have also gone to the bottom of the list. Hurting nobody. But no.

I had a funny thing happen to me walking off the jetway two days ago in ATL. I was walking off to get a wheelchair for a first class passenger (see, I am a nice guy who cares...), and a lady passenger says to me that her son will eventually be a Delta pilot. I asked her about that and she said her son was now attending the Delta Connection Academy (or Comair Academy) in Sanford, FL. She said he was excited about being a "Delta Pilot." I told her, "Make sure he picks ASA if he has the choice."

That's explains it doesn't it. Why hire an already qualified and competent pilot when you can obtain more money by getting someone to pay for their education and training with the offer of getting them the jobs "no one else can provide". Some of these folks probably get a lot out of the snob appeal of being to say they are a "Delta" pilot (nothing personal just fill in the blank with AA or UAL etc.) when it's really Comair which doesn't really get you brownie points at the afternoon "tea".

I guess they're still trying to pass off that "aviation family" HR stuff that Delta touts as a reality, at Comair. Are they in for a surprise.

Most things are negotiable. Giving my seniority to someone else, merely because he wants it, should not be one of them. "Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's goods."

I realize this message board is dominated by regional airline pilots and general aviation pilots but I really feel the need to point out the hypocrisy of these two posters comments.

Surplus1 asks about coveting thy neighbor's goods. Well, how about some questions that go the other way Surplus1 ? You already have jets, now you covet bigger jets. With those bigger jets you covet your neighbor's ( read mainline ) routes. What's wrong with this picture ?

The main line carriers are furloughing by the boatload while the regionals hire in unprecendented numbers. The new regional pilots aren't happy unless they are flying jets and upgrading in two years. In order to do that the mainline carriers have to give up both jets and routes to the regionals. So who is coveting whose belongings ?

If I was still flying for USAirways I would say that you can pry my 126 seater from my cold dead fingers.

The unfortunate thing is that this was all avoidable. If ALPO had just had the foresight to get everyone together with flow through lists ( that went both ways ) none of this would be a problem today.

I agree it's bad that regional pilots are getting mainline flying, but please remember who is giving it to us, LEO, GLEN & GORDY!!

The problem (at least one) I have with UAL is that when it's convienient for them they shove this j4j in our face. Do we get anything in return, like flow both ways? No. It's one way only. How fair is that?
