Does anyone have any information regarding to SkyWest’s hiring status during 2006? Also does skywest and ASA share the same seniority number? If not, will that ever happen in the near future?

I've heard general rumors of hiring beginning at the end of the first quarter '06.

SKYW and ASA pilot groups are currently totally separate. No employee or seniority number overlap. "SkyWest, Inc" has expressed interest in running the two airlines distinctly.

The future: who ever tells you he knows, does not know...

I talked to one of our Chief Pilots last week. He says for sure they are not going to hire for the first quarter. However, there are some pilots going back to UAL and some getting picked up at other majors. So between that, and the fact that we are taking delivery of some of ASA's 700's. I am a firm believer that we will hiring throughout 2Q of 2006.

I'm not trying to stir things up but where is the "fact" coming from?? Do you have it in print?

5 700's from march to may.

Ok then...works for me. Any word yet on what routes you'll be flying these on. I would assume they will all be SLC based? Could these be the (5) ex-Comair -700's or are these new build models?

im thinking because they were not announced and discretely put on the delivery schedule that they are old comair planes.

Nope..
They are ASA aircraft that were ordered before the buyout. That's y they are coming in the "ASA" config., 2 lavs.

Skywest in a memo 2 or 3 weeks ago said they were Skywest airplanes. I think the reason for this being so discrete was because the ASA pilots are already worried about their future in SLC and this only adds to it. From all the rumors (and it's only rumors), this is the beginning of the end for them in SLC. If Skywest didn't buy ASA, these planes would of went to ASA.

Let me get this straight...SkyWest Inc. gets ~22 planes when they purchase ASA. These planes can be distributed to either SkyWest Air or ASA. Just beacause they are assigned to SW does not necessarily mean they will be under the Delta flag. Could also be a quick way to get more 700's under UA that SW had not ordered...just a thought...

Aren't Comair's 700's like ASA's with 2 lavs???

The chief pilots (except perhaps for the system chief pilot) don't know any more about hiring plans than the other pilots.

freshest from the rumour mill....

the forthcoming 22 aircraft will be 900s mostly.

900s will go to ASA in ATL, and their pilots will eventually all be based there. Delta needs the larger feed there.

current ASA 700 flying in SLC will be gradually moved to the SW side of the SW Inc. house.

anyway, that's the newest bit I heard....

Is there any time frame tied to this rumor(SLC Being all SW)? By the end of 2006? Before ASA strikes and cripples DAL? (no flame intended)

That is news to everyone at Dalpa. No agreement has been made to change any scope. But, SkyWest is buying one VIP A340 to fly Ron Reber and Jerry Atkin around Utah to look over their kingdom. And, Brad Holt and Dave Benjamin will be flying it. They have to do something with all of the SkyWest profits---besides give it to the pilots in the form of a $5 an hour raise on the CR7....

Bye Bye--General Lee

thanks for the 'original' and always sooooooo unpredictable rapid response.

...like I said, it's a rumour

General, why do you spend so much time on the regionals forum. No one on the majors forum care for your crap? Seems like little man syndrom to me.

I thought they'd all be 705's....900 body with less seats....then delta relaxes scope, and skywest gets 900's with 95 seats....DOH

How can it be little man syndrome with me? I have said more than once that I look like Lerch--I am 6 foot 5", and weigh about 100 pounds (a buck). And, I enjoy every part of aviation, but I really seem to enjoy this section because I can get a rise out of guys like Dave Benjamin, Mookie, and Halo RJ driver. It just makes my day. Thanks guys.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't do drugs.

Flying big planes and rubbing it in everybodys faces because you are compensating for a little richard. Did you fly at the regionals? If so, did no one like you. From a psycological standpoint, it makes sense, coming back to rub everybodys nose in your successes. Or were you military, us regional civilians don't deserve our jobs.

I heard from a very good source. A person in the know if you will... That ASA was getting an LAX hub... however the crews will be outstation based in latin america.
