For those of you at SkyWest and ExpressJet do you have any idea how long the waiting period is for medical insurance to kick-in, and how much would it cost for a family of 4 ( pilot, wife and 2 kids ).

Thanks.

Express Jet is a six month wait after your hire date (this will reduce to three month if the current TA passes). The 2005 family rate from Blue Cross EPO is $169/mth.

Skywest Insurance

At Skywest you have to wait for the beginning of the month after 90 days. So, it could be a little longer than just 3 months.

If you do the IHC plan at Skywest, it's only $160 a month. Dental is another $27 a month. These are family rates, single rates are significantly lower. Medical is going up to about $180 a month for next year though. I'm not sure what dental is going to do.

We also have a Flex Spending program and a decent stock purchase program.
