My Captain and FA thought they were on to something when they broke the news to me yesterday morning that we (ASA) were going to be bought by Skywest.

I was disappointed. I thought they were actually going to tell me something new, or at least interesting!

I was at FSI today.

Went over to the big tent in front of the GO

They were serving lunch.

I asked if I could have some.

They told me "You need a SkyWest ID to get in"

Time for everyone at SKYW to dump their employee stock purchases because the things that have made us the Wall Street darling as of late (wads o' cash in the bank, lack of union on property) are about to disapear and a huge amount of time, money, and political capital is going to be spent trying to pull this thing off.

I can see the stock price heading southbound real fast.

Ah well, it was a pretty good company there for a while...

P.S. don't misread the union coming in as a bad thing for the pilots (it is long overdue), I just mean it was good for management NOT to have a union, and the stock ratings seemed to reflect that.

I got news for you, ASA is a quality company with many tremendous people working there, and many quality pilots!! How does this stop SKYW from being "a pretty good company" anymore? if it decreases my seniority as a result of a DOH integration, it's a worse place to work.

if it displaces me, it's worse.

if it lengthens the time it will take me to upgrade, it's worse.

SkyWest should only pursue this if our pilots receive some benefit as a result. after all, who is buying who? the buyer should come out better than the bought.

No, I think you may have misunderstood: I'm saying when a company gets big, really HUGE (the combined list would make SkyWest the largest regional by far), the employees tend to be treated ever more simply as numbers and not as human beings. It is not ASA, or Comair or whoever that would "bring down" SKYW, its just that such a undertaking would be so costly in terms of employee satisfaction (every single pilot having his or her own idea of what "fair" integration of the list would be), and the huge financial cost of making the thing work, I think the new company would be nothing in terms of corporate "feel" like it was before, regardless of how much propaganda SGU spews forth about the team and family and all that.

I have ZERO problem with ASA, either as a company or a pilot group. I've not heard one word here of anyone who does.

Uncle Jerry must have some great deal worked out, because for the life of me I can't see what kind of enticement DAL could make that would make them all want to do this. Then again they've been doing pretty good for a long time before I was here so maybe I'll just fly the planes and let them sweat the big stuff...

Nothing to do with Skywest. Who ever told you that was joking. The owners of the building are who threw the lunch for everyone who leases space there. Not saying Skywest rumour not true, IT WAS FOR PEOPLE WHO LEASE IN THE BLDG. They do this every once in a while. All flight ops people where there for a meeting, planned a while ago..... still not saying the rumour is not true.

As a wholly owned DAL feeder has an ACA pilot's "career expectation" included UAX on the west coast, DEN, ORD or other non-DCI LCC type flying or other UAX expansion?
