I just got the letter from Skyway saying I am in the hiring pool! I am very excited to be starting a 121 career. Anyhow, I have some questions on the training process and hope someone can help out...

1) What is the pay during training?
2) Is a hotel room provided?
3) Where does the training take place (all in MKE?)
4) Any rumors on when the next calss will be and how many people will be in it?

Any other advice or insights please let me know!

Thanks!

Congrats on your hiring!!

You will not be in the pool long, from what I've heard the class on Mon the 12th of Apr is not even full. The next class after that should be coming soon.

The pay during training is 75 hrs/ mo @ approx $17-18 per hour ( I can't remember exactly).

They do not put you up during ground school, which is in MKE, since you will be based there anyway. They have a deal with the Baymont Inn and several other hotels are cheap. There are also many crashpads available. When you go to the sim, however, a hotel is provided.

Since United just released ACA from its contract, Skyway should have their DOJets on the property soon. If so, you'll be a captain before you know it.

Congrats again, you may have just stumbled over a fast-track to the majors.

You might be based in CVG when Skyway takes over the Dojos from ACA.....

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

Well CVG can't be as expensive as MKE is to live in.....

General,

I hope your right, as a new hire in the next class at Skyway I could use some good news regarding Delta. I guess if that happens I will finally get to fly Delta passengers again just not at mainline.

Skyway seems to be a good company who doesn't require seniority resignation (I won't use any references to another airline in Cincy), and they do know the Do Jets as we have 10 now with hopefully 33 more.

Take care.

Is this official?

I haven't seen any press releases or anything to supprort this Delta Dojet thing. Is this official or is it wishfull thinking running wild? I wish the Skyway guys the best on the growth possibilitys.

How do you define "full"? The next class has 14 new hires along with several CA upgrades - all for the 1900.

Skyway doesn't have a set "number" for class size. Recent classes have been anywhere from 6 to 28.

TBKANE,

I am glad that you got a job with a good company and I look forward to your return to Delta some day soon I hope. And, I know exactly who you were talking about in CVG.....

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

But this can't be....

What? Skyway? But.. they cant because they are too small. So much for the nay sayers. :D :)

Happy happy joy joy

And to think...

I could be senority number 6 or 7 if I had stayed at SYX! Best wishes to you all who are getting on with Skyway. Great place for me to have started my professional flying career and now I can only look back and smile on the great times and friends I made there. Enjoy the DoKnob. All I had to choose from was the Beech. Regards, HF

Congratulations on being in the pool! Some of my roomates are sending in their resumes this week. In another 50 hrs mine will be too!

Congrats Chi Town,

Way back in the day, the class I was in stayed at the Red Roof Inn. We all buddied up and were able to save a little bit of money. I think it ended up around $200 a week for two people (duhmath means your cost is $100). Not a glamour lifestyle, but it helped for study groups. If you do this, they do have some rooms with microfridges that can open your culinary window.

Your ground school will be at the Great Cookie Palace (Midwest Airlines HQ) south of the airport. The Red Roof is about a two miles away. I know that the entire class is in the Beech, twelve in all, I guess. Sounds like a good time to be getting in, good luck in ground school. Chances are, I'll meet all of you guys at the Landmark after you successfully complete company procedures (indoc) to drink the ones that are cold.

OMG Skyway Pilots drink beer @ the Landmark:p
Good luck to all

Hey Propsync.....

do you have any roots in Iowa?

midwest airlines/skyway contact

congratulations on the new job...

does anyone have current contact info for chief pilot/recruiting at skyway airlines?

tbkane,

I'm curious --- they don't require you to resign your seniority at Skyway?

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported this morning that, while Skyway is hiring, Midwest still has 100 pilots on furlough. (I used to be one of them --- now, I'm at much greener pastures.)

If it's true that they don't require resignation of seniority, then why aren't they allowing any of the Midwest guys to flow back?

Just out of curiosity... I'm confused by the posts --- were you DAL mainline, or the "other CVG" operator you mentioned?

Giving up your number for Skyway depends. It depends mostly if they can see you'll stay long enough to get the cost of training out of you. If you are 3000 down and out somewhere, I'd say they would hire in a heartbeat. If you were ten away from recall, they probably won't bother.

Flowback- We have NEVER had a flow program with ME/A (What do we call Midwest now?). Flowback wouldn't work at such a small airline, and I wonder if it really works anywhere else. The retraining costs would have just killed us here. It's cold to say, but it's easier to just furlough people than find them another job to do. Put the burden on the employee, that's been the TIMMY logic all along.

For the post on who to contact- check a page or two back in the regional forum to see that info. The thread is Skyway Hiring? I think. Good luck

DH106- But won't you miss the cookies? J/K Good for you.

Ha ha ha!!!

Yeah... I miss the cookies --- about as much as I miss waking-up, screaming, in a cold sweat!!!

The greasy pole is there for all of us --- it's just getting harder to climb up it, these days. : )

Take care!

Talked to a Midex captain about that same thing in OMA last week, we should try working something out between the respective MEC's to give hiring prefernce(sp) to all furloughed MEA/DAL pilots since the rate of recalls is very slow. We have several furloughed pilots from other airlines.

Ahh, sweet, sweet greener pasures. DH106, isnt life great here?? Sure wish we would keep the hiring going though. Jobear, did they make you a captain yet? You must be getting close, which is a scary thought. Nice avatar by the way.

Skyway/Midwest made it public yesterday that they are pursuing a deal with Delta (like everyone didnt know). I sure hope it works out. If they get as many airplanes as planned, (10 now, 25 later????) everyone presently at Skyway will be a captain. Those of you looking to apply, I say get in NOW. The pay isnt great, but upgrade will be short if this deal goes through.

Amen Propsync, Bear the old "taxi" driver up at IWD gave Mike and I about 10-2 fer coupons one early overnight for the cab company bar. Ya know those women weren't half bad looking by the time we left.

Geez Joe, I can only imagine. Mike was a great guy. My wife and I went to the airport today to the trees and said 'Hi'. I used to live with him and think about him all of the time and miss him a lot. How do you feel about flying with me (hopefully if all goes well) in a few months?
