I went through SIMCOM for the initial PC-12. Even though the job we were training for was a 2 pilot crew, SIMCOM, or at least our instructor (Tom Goonan) didn't involve any CRM, he had us do all the sim work as single pilot. He was very knowledgeable about the aircraft. Beyond that, I could tell he was a sim instructor and lacked a great deal of real world flying. He was trying to tell me how to deal with ice when it sounded like he had very little experience with it. I flew 135 for 5 years based out of Seattle (BFI) so I got very accustomed to dealing with icing encounters, how to avoid it and how to deal with it once it accumulates. Anyway, there was no way to fail the training, so I totally agree that if you just want the certificate and don't care about training, SIMCOM is fine. I hope to go to FLIGHTSAFETY someday, they sound like a much better operation.
