I went to Signature today at STL. Not top notch service, but not the worst I've had. I pulled onto the ramp and it took a minute for a line guy to show up and park me. Later, I had them pull the plane up to the door, and that took forever to get done.

About a month ago I went to Signature at MMU, and the service there was pretty good. Line guy met the plane, we got fueled fairly quickly, and people inside were friendly.
Like others have said, I avoid Signature as much as possible.

It may be because I kind of expect to get service that is at the level of the service charges - OR maybe it's just that I hate dealing with Signature so much....

But, I have NEVER left Signature happy. Not once. Ever. Especially in MIA.

I guess I just had good luck with Signature. It didn't hurt that they had more hot chicks working the desk than I considered average. :)

Odds are I would've had at least ONE bad experience if all these NE locations were so bad, but I just didn't. I hit the DCA, BOS and HPN locations at least a dozen times each, and nothing in my memory banks sticks out as a "bad experience". And they had good popcorn.

Having said that one normally expects to get bad service on ANY ramp, 91 or 121, between BOS/NY/PHL/DC... It's just the nature of the beast in those areas. The same goes for vans, hotels, and terminals. They are all amongst the worst of the worst. I've never had worse ramp service than that provided by USAir in those locations, especially (well, certainly BOS/LGA/PHL, and to a lesser extent PIT, but the USAir rampies are categorically the worst I have ever experienced in ANY hub).

Yea, I was there in STL today also. I called ahead about 1 hour before I was to make it to the airport to have it topped off and when I arrived at the airport they were just getting around to fueling it. If you were the guy in the pilatus around 5pm, I actually was taxing out right behind you. Small world huh

What else should I expect from this outfit but the highest fuel prices in the industry and $hitty service.

Pulled into Signature at HPN the other day. Not a soul on the ramp to marshall us in, so I parked up front, shut down, climb out of the cockpit and open the door on a the Lear 35 I was flying that day. As I stepped out of the airplane, this one line guy, with pants too big for him and J-Lo glasses, walks up and tells me I can't park there. I told him we were a drop off and quick turn and that wouldn't be there long. If he wanted to tell us where to park, he should have been there to guide us like 99% of all the other FBO's that do it. He shrugged his boney shoulders and walked off. Inside the FBO after we were fueled, I pulled out a credit card to pay for gas only to find out it's over $5.00 a gallon. YOU GOTTA BE F'n KIDDING ME?? The front desk lady said "I know, gas is expensive here." I chuckled thinking about what I was told in the past by a Signature employee concerning their fuel prices. She said, excellent customer service was the reason their prices are higher than most.

I avoid Signature whenever I can. How this outfit stays in business is a mystery to me?

Ask Senator John Sherman. He had quite a response to this sort of thing back in 1890.

We all hate them. Those of us who fly jets with more fuel in the wings than the weight of a fully loaded Challenger, don't buy one drop of fuel from the place. I'd rather pay their stupid ramp fee than purchase any Jet A from those idiots.

Almost got arrested at the BWI one. Got out the plane, my pax lit up a cig and copped a NY Yankees attitude with the State Police when they asked him why he was stupid enough to smoke on the ramp. Turns out one of the line guys got fired for the day and we almost got fined like 10 grand for walking around un-escorted. The signature people let us out on the ramp and were suprised when we got nearly thrown in jail.

I almost kicked a pax heinie for smoking on his way to my airplane on the ramp in BOS... A-gates, on his way to my then-being-refueled aeroplane...
