what is the mid atlantic pilots' position? not trying to flame...honest question...
Hearsay:
1 Mid Atlantic guy said on another board that they wanted the Mid Atlantic flying fenced off into the existing bases. Vacancies through attrition to be filled by RAH pilots.
RAH guys say that there was a meeting: the proposal from Mid Atlantic was 1-1 integration at the existing Mid Atlantic bases, no discussion, take it or leave it. The RAH guys left it.
There is an arbitrator's decision pending regarding whether the transfer of these 170's is a change of control (of MAA as an entity) or an asset sale (of 28 planes and associated infrastructure). If asset sale, j4j is triggered and 1/2 the seats go to RAH pilots. If a transfer of control, it becomes Alleghany-Mohawk for all the pilots.
Meantime, there are a few very vocal MAA guys claiming that RAH guys getting seats in the airplanes when the sale results in layoffs at MAA meets the definition of "scab." Dunno if this is just a vocal few or if these few are vocalizing the sentiment of the whole group. There are rumors of jumpseats being denied and there have been verbal confrontations.
As for the MAA FA's: they are being offered interviews at RAH.
What does this have to do with the Shuttle integration? Same sort of thing. There is a faction of junior guys at RAH who have been yelling "STAPLE!!!" since day one for all to hear, claiming that anything else will delay their upgrade. While this may be true, and all things being equal they are entitled to defend their place on the seniority list, the guys screaming the loudest were instructing in Seminoles (figuratively speaking) this time last year.
Again, it's hard to blame someone for going for this opportunity, but the sense of entitlement literally seeps from their pores. They have shouted "STAPLE" and laid claim to the MAA seats without regard for anything other than the rapidity with which their upgrade training date approaches. They are a minority, but they are making so much noise that noone sees anything else. Their public willingness to climb on the backs of others (MAA and SA) in order to advance is seriously annoying a lot of people both within their own group and beyond.
Then some joker pastes a bit of associated dirty laundry in public and the aforementioned start yelling "MINE!" in public. What they do not recognize is the effect of their short sightedness on their future in this business when their time comes to move on. Nor do they recognize its effect on their colleagues who will be spattered with the feces from the pile into which they jumped.
