Republic Airways Holdings Announces the Purchase of Shuttle America Corporation
Monday May 9, 9:47 am ET

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2005--Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:RJET - News), announced today that it has completed the purchase of Shuttle America Corporation from Shuttle Acquisition LLC, an affiliate of Wexford Capital LLC, for the purchase price of $1 million plus the assumption of less than $1 million in debt to Wexford Capital LLC.

Republic's decision to purchase Shuttle America is in anticipation of increased demand for the Embraer 170 and to provide Republic with the opportunity to operate aircraft larger than 70 seats such as the Embraer 190 while complying with certain scope restrictions that some of its major airline partners currently have in place. Shuttle America is expected to begin scheduled passenger operations with the Embraer 170 in June as a United Express affiliate and plans to phase out all turboprop flying by the end of 2005.

Shuttle America today operates turboprop aircraft under a fixed fee airline services agreement with United Airlines out of its Washington Dulles hub. The company is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana and employs approximately 200 aviation professionals throughout its system.

"I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the employees of Shuttle America to the Republic Airways family. Like our Chautauqua Airlines team, the people of Shuttle America have consistently worked hard to maintain safe, reliable service under challenging circumstances. We look forward to reaching new heights with the Shuttle America team," said Bryan Bedford, chairman, president and CEO of Republic Airways Holdings.

Republic Airways Holdings, based in Indianapolis, Indiana is an airline holding company that operates Chautauqua Airlines, Inc. and Republic Airlines Inc. Its principal operating subsidiary, Chautauqua Airlines offers scheduled passenger service on more than 700 flights daily to 76 cities in 32 states, Canada and the Bahamas through code sharing agreements with four major U.S. airlines. All of its flights are operated under its major airline partner brand, such as AmericanConnection, Delta Connection, United Express and US Airways Express. The airline employs more than 2,500 aviation professionals and operates 118 regional jets including 18 Embraer 170 aircraft.

I got an email in my inbox from the career people at my college saying shuttle was looking for people with 1200/200 multi. What's up with that?

Are they hiring to replace the saab people that are bidding the 170? I thought they were getting rid of the saabs?

Saabs are scheduled to be gone by November, 2005. As I understand, all new hires are going into the 170. 1200/200 may be mins, but probably not competitive.

Supposedly SA will get pay/bennies/rules of the CHQ contract whereever it's an improvement over what they have (which is about 99% better)

Reason I ask is because CHQ's mins are posted 1500/300 & ATP mins for the 170, so I thought SA's mins would be the same if they were hiring into the same airplane.

Source? Noone in HQ seems to KNOW when they're going away, at least not my sources, so where did you come by this information?

From what I understand and hear from the HR dept. at CHQ is that the Min will remain the same at 1500 and 300. Including the 500XC and 75 Actual IFR. for the E170. I know a few guys that have gotten hired with about 1500TT and 100 multi, but they're going into the E145.

You never know, it could change, day to day.

GOOD LUCK!

It is my understanding that CHQ will continue to do the hiring for the Shuttle certificate. So I would imagine whatever the CHQ minimums are, is what will be required for the SA pilots as well.

As far as the future for the Saabs, the Yahoo report only says they will be gone by the end of the year. Last time I checked December was the last month of the year. However I would not be surprised to see them go away faster then that.

Are Republic pilots and CHQ pilots on the same senoirity list? Any ideas how Shuttle pilots will be integrated? Thanks.

I.P.

The 6 month trigger with United was supposed to be pulled the date the deal was inked with R/A so 5+6 = 11 :-)

Some, I understand will go away sooner.

Could be December too....

Well as of right now, there are no Republic pilots. But yes they all will be on the same list.

As far as how the Shuttle pilots will be intergrated is being discussed. The two companies unions have meetings scheduled next week to discuss that very subject.

Hey Slap,

Yeah it says by the end of the year. Not the last month of the year. And the last time I checked Nov is at the latter part of the year

Alrighty, just wondering where you picked that one up from since as of last friday I still was hearing "I dunno" when I axed "when are the Saabs going away?"

I spoke with the Upper Brass from Republic Holdings at the S5 hangar today, after I returned from my trip. After I was done sticking my foot in my mouth, I asked them if they have a timeline for when the saabs would begin to disappear. The quote I got is, That is up to United. I said "end of the year?" They said, It depends on how long United needs us, a date has not been determined yet, possibly end of this, or early next year.

(The reason I didn't put quotes around their comments is, management reads this board, they know my screenname, and I don't want to be accused of misrepresenting the company with false quotes.)

S5 now owns a few of their saabs, so as a junior captain, I wouldn't be surprised to be saab qualified into the end of next winter or early spring, no matter when a few of the leases "END". BTW, there is not a lot of demand for SF-340(A)'s, so to get a bank to extend a lease for a few months, to keep a major code-share partner happy, would not be out of the question.

No matter what, pretty soon you're soon going to have to change your user ID to "StuckInA145"!

Just remember, they're called THRUST levers. ;)

145?, I like Shuttle just fine, I think I will stick around here for a while.

I see the point sailed right over your head, SIAS. I like Shuttle just fine, too.

However, as a "junior captain", I don't know how it is you expect to stay at SA after the Saabs are sent to the desert.

I think some Shuttle pilots are under the impression that since they are currently Shuttle employees, they will stay Shuttle employees. I have heard this in the crew room in IAD a couple of times. I tried to explain to them that they are going to have to bid on equipment just like everyone else and whatever their seniority allows them to hold is what certificate they will fly for.

At least that is how I forsee this thing going down.
