Looking for a good type of shoes that can be user friendly going through airport screening. Anyone have a good shoe?

Ecco's. They're expensive and worth every penny. I suggest the "City" model. Very basic. Great leather and great comfort. Non-metal shanks. I've actually watched mine go through the x-ray machine--nothing there.

I found mine on eBay for a little less than 1/2 the retail price. $225 retail. I paid ~$100.

I have Sears Wonderlite shoes. Very comfortable, no metal, only $49. Comes in a loafer and lace-up. FWIW......You can catch them on sale for $39.

Gotta second the recommendation for the Eccos. They last FOREVER, the soles are built like iron, they don't set of the mouth-breather's machine, and are cut like a military oxford and shine nicely. (Imagine the same pattern as your coraframs but in nice leather.)

I've got 1700 hours of flying, assorted commuting and deadheading in the last two years on mine, they still look almost brand new.

Eccos. Spend the bucks. Paid a buck fifty for mine and after almost 2 years the soles look absolutely like new.

Gup

Another vote for the Ecco's. I'm on my second pair The first pair lasted 4 years and are still servicable. The only reason I bought the second pair is because I stumbled across them on sale for $45 at Macy's (reg retail about $150). Most comfortable dress shoes I've ever worn and they are very light. Worth every penny. I'll never buy anything else.

ditto ecco, 2 years and counting, still looking new.

Try the John Lobb "Monkstrap" model. I just love mine and at $650 bucks a shot, they are TOTALLY worth it. Of course, the pilots won't know the difference as we tend to be tone deaf to these things, but the flight attendants will oohhh and aahhh...all the way back to your room. Shoes are important boys, the girls notice!!!

Wildmanny -- haaaaaa. Good thing you clarified "girls." Something tells me at jb, the "dudes" would notice more than the chics.

Try Dockers shoes. They are airport friendly (nylon shank), they are stylish (for you wildmanny) and I think I paid about 55 bux.

If only I knew that your shoes could get you laid. I would stop all this working out and eating healthy etc.

I have a pair af eccos and the model 3170 Justin ropers. Both get through security with no problems and the eccos are the lightest pair of shoes I've ever worn. Soles last forever also.

Just an alternative opinion about Eccos. Don't know why, but I have the kind of feet where every new shoe (except sneakers) needs to be broken-in extensively with the use of moleskin on my heels. Usually two to three weeks does it. I've been wearing the moleskin on my Eccos for months now trying to be able to wear them without getting blisters. I guess it's their sturdiness that makes them harder to break in. No pair of shoes is worth this much trouble. If only I could wear them without protection I'm sure I'd love 'em.

Ecco slip on. comfortable, fit well, no security ding.

paid $70 on sale at Dillard's. worth every penny. the soles do last forever and they hold a nice shine.

Now that's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Thanks

The Eccos I had were horrible. Rubbed my heels to blisters within minutes. Florsheims are great, no beeps, and are often on sale for about $70 at many dept stores.

Here's another tip. Buy the shoes, then go to the airport with them in the box. Put them on just outside TSA then walk thru. If they beep, you haven't scuffed up the bottoms and can take them back.

I have to go w/ Rockports. I'm a big guy and rough on shoes. My Deer Stags lasted around 7 months or so and were in shambles after. The lining on the inside was seperating from the leather part. There cheap and comfortable as well. Rockports on the other hand are a few dollars more, I have 2 different pair of airport friendly ROckports and after 2 plus yrs they are in descent shape.

They are pricey but Johnson and Murphy makes airport friendly shoes. I have never had an issue going through security with them. I'm also pretty tough on shoes and they hold up really well. They are definately worth the money.

Allen Edmonds, they don't set of the alarm either. And the best part is they are real shoes with real leather with real soles that take a real shine and don't look like the "dork" shoes so many other airport friendly ones do. Looking at a lot of pilots and their shoes its a wonder any of us get laid at all.

I had some Rockports once and was getting them shined and they weren't shining to well and the guy said "these are Rockports right?" I said yes and then he said "thats why they don't shine, they're not real leather."

Dr. Martens worked well for me. No slipping on the glycol and no need to remove them to walk through the metal detector. Plus after the second day they were very comfortable.

I have Soft Stags $29.99 from J.C. Penney outlet store. Airport safe shoes.
No problem at the airport. No metal plate or go to Google and search for "Airport Safe Shoes"

Go to www.zappos.com, click on airport friendly. I got a pair of Bostonians for 100$, never set off any machines.
I'll second the Bostonians. They have a line called the "non stops"...no metal and they're waterproof. I've had mine for over a year, and they're the most comfortable slip-ons I've ever owned.
