I pay alpa to prevent things like this and they are letting all of us down.

I would say YOU are wasting your money because YOU are letting your MEC down. Support your MEC and CNC! ALPA is only as powerful as its members. What have YOU done to get a contract?

The union lawyers have been all over this, but they had to actually wait for the company to make a move before they could do anything.

I expect an all-out blitz from ALPA to get released. Enough is enough.

I don't expect much from ALPA. Probably an email, some picketing, and tough talk from the usual suspects. In the end, the planes will keep going. Rumor is a displacement bid is coming out soon. In RGT last week, Scott said Skywest crews will be flying out of ATL starting in Dec.

So this all the pilots fault? ALPA screws this up and you want to blame the line pilots! No wonder ALPA is losing support.

What have YOU done except bitch on a message board that ALPA sucks? Tool.

ALPA does not suck they provide serveral invaluable services like medical and legal; however, if they do not come through with some kind of legal action I will have lost all faith in our mec. Skywest should not be taking aircraft from our fleet, it is an RLA violation and personally, I demand that our union get a spine and do something about it. Right now they are coming across in their true form, they either need to get with the program or we should recall each and every one of them. The games are over, put up or we are going to replace you.

When did you become a lawyer?

This is not a violation of the RLA. Have you ever read the RLA? Our contract allows the transfer of airplanes (actually doesn't prohibit it). We don't have a legal leg to stand on.

As for replacing them, if you think you have the votes, go for it. But before you do, make sure you have a viable replacement.

I don't understand why everybody thinks recall is such a threat. As a former rep, I can tell you that they know they serve at will and can be recalled any time. you may be doing them a favor by saving them the stress and aggravation of a second job they don't get paid for.

How about you step up to the plate and do something more than shooting your mouth off. Volunteer positions are available. What are you going to do?

Whatever, what have you done mr pennekamp?

I've picketed, shown support by wearing my pin, asked questions to mgmt when they're around, flown the contract, and I do support my MEC. You are a moron to just come a blast someone when you don't know any of their story.

A union is supposed to support all of it's members but it never seems to, just those at the top of it.

And I don't have a choice if I give money or not.

OK, I'm a moron.

Do you call for services or sit? Are you willing to write up a broken plane at an outstation on the freedom leg? Were you at the last LEC meeting? Have you volunteered for a position? I have done all of those things.

It takes more than wearing a pin and waiting for your reps to save you. And the union IS the members, not the elected VOLUNTEERS "at the top". If you don't know that, than you're a moron too.

I tried the militant ASA ALPA attutude and attended all the picketing sessions, volunteered for the P2P program.. Voted yes to strike, etc. etc. All that that got me was some sore feet, an ASPEN mail box that has the same BS in it every week and now another 10 years as a freaking FO at this HORRIBLE COMPANY!

I preached for years about not whoring out my services and skills as a professional aviator. Now look at me... 5th year ATR FO, bypassed for the crj for 3 years, looking at another 10 years for an upgrade while all the other pilots undercut everything to get the upgrade and eventually the paycheck. Now they are captains at the whore airlines, about to get on with FEDEX, AIRTRAN, SW, CONT. ect. and I am still driving my F^%$ turbo prop to columbus GA and dOthan AL 6 times a day!

You really shouldn't hold back on your feelings. Go ahead and tell us how you really feel.

Is there anything "Official" from the Company or Union? Or is it all rumor on the web?

Is there anything at all from the union yet? Didn't the MEC meet last week?

It's not a rumor. 701 is gone. Others will follow. It also has absolutely nothing to do with the pilot contract. ASADriver and his buddies could work for free and it still wouldn't change the fact that ASA management consistently fails to provide an adequate product. That is the issue, not the contract negotiations. For all you guys who want to settle the contract at all costs.. what effect do you think a substandard pilot contract will have on a substandard management. Zero.

This has everything to do with negotiations.

~~~^~~~ was right about one thing in that we need scope.
Fins is right about a lot of things, scope in particular. IMHO, scope would be the single most essential inclusion in a new contract. Without it, the rest is worthless.
You honestly think that, with all the factors involved in moving an airplane from point A to point B that our contract negotiations have anything to do with allocation of aircraft?? Ever stop to think that Jerry and Co. have seen how inept our management is? If you were the guy in charge would you really want to give Bryan L. any more rope to hang himself with??? ASA is a failure, and it has nothing to do with the pilots. Our management has failed the customers and the employees. Our contract negotiations don't account for 20 lost bags per 1000 passengers. Our negotations don't account for always being last or near last in on time. Our negotiations don't account for the abortion that is the ASA ramp in Atlanta. Honestly, if you made the decisions, would you want to throw more aircraft at these G/O idiots or take aircraft away?
If you really think any of this has anything to do with the pilots then you are either (a) a fool, (b) a management shrill, or (c) a ******************************bag looking desperately for somebody to blame. Which is it?
ps. Now how the hell is D0uchebag a censored word???
Why has nothing been posted by either ALPA or the Company? It may be true, but I have my doubts. JA is a smart guy and probably won't risk a RLA violation. If that is the case.
Jerry doesn't want organized labor. We have unionized pilots and FA's... He is breaking the union.
This has nothing to do with the contract. SKYW pilots make a lot more than ASA pilots.
I do find it hilarious that until now everyone was saying "there is no way they are going to take our aircraft."
What was that number for Skywest? I might need that.
So go to SKYW already Crash! And take asadriver with you! I say take Joey Merchant too but SKYW wouldn't hire him. Doom and gloom, broken record.
VOTED IN FAVOR!
701 IS gone and in Salt Lake, It is a clear violation of the RLA, not the contract but the RLA. The company has changed from status Quo and is trying to hurt the unionized labor group!! The company Skywest Inc. has entered into self help to survive if we go on strike, they will try to transfer as many planes as possible before the strike and hire as many people as possible to staff the airline! And that is what they are doing presently! ASA has had many pilots leave in the last 4-5 months with no upgrades, makes you wonder whats up!
If ALPA does not do something I think the pilots at ASA will have to take in over and do it ourselves. If you want something done, you have to do it yourself!
ALPA=CALL the mediator and tell them we want RELEASED!!!! If we are going to do this lets ROLL!!!
like i said bout a year ago skywest is just transfering asa's stuff to skywest soon asa will be gone. you guys will have the same choice westair had. hire on. or move on. this is the only way they can oust out the onion and not have any repercussions... good luck to u all
Whether it's 105 F or -40C I walk just to keep my sanity.
I really thought that -40C was the same exact thing as -40F. But then, those ASA guys know everything.
