Does anyone know how they contract the aircraft they use for their operation?

Individual owners own aircraft. Excess charter is contracted out to charter companies they have deals with.

SFG/Jetdirect is constantly changing over the last 2 years. In a few months, it will look completely different....a few months later...different again most likely.

SFG no longer exists. Sentient and Jet Direct parted ways some months ago.
Sentient is now just what it used to be, a jet card membership program which owns no aircraft. They use a preferred provider network of charter operators to provide lift for their card members. Jet Direct is/was supposed to be #1 in that preferred provider network but it never really happened.
As for JD (which really has little/nothing to do with Sentient anymore) supposedly they got some new funding this month but the place is so screwed up that I'd be surprised if the remaining players can right the ship.
