I've been thinking about how fun it would be to work for Scenic for a while to get experience in the twin otter and then try to get on with Seabourne flying the twin otter on floats. What do you think? Food stamps forever? Anyone know the current upgrade time at Scenic? Any other tips?

Thanks.

You could also call your thread "Frying Pan into the Fire." I would never consider leaving Scenic, or any airline for that matter, to go to Seabourne. If you do decide to go, make sure you like living on STX first (as in, spend more than a few days).

I know the CP at Seaborne and I can tell you that you are going to need alot more that just Otter Time to get on. How much float time do you have and do you have a ATP AMES?

Well, Twin Otter time is good to have if you like to fly for Seaborne. I got hired there after Flight instructing for two years. I sent my resume to STX every month for around a year and half, got the call on a friday and started groundschool on a monday.
They have hired SIC's with NO Twin Otter time and no float time. Of course having both is great but there are just not enough float people around.
Again if you like to work for seaborne than go down to the islands, hang around for a while or even get a job waiting tables or work at the ramp at seaborne. I knew one guy who had I think less than 1000 hours, started at the ramp and started groundschool as SIC in less than 3 month.
There is still a girl flying for seaborne who used to fly for senic.
Have fun

That was before the AOPA article and the flood of resumes. Seaborne is in need of Captains, not FOs right now. I'd say the float time would be more helpful than the otter time. Put them together and your golden. Call them up, it is a small operation. They can give you the scoop right over the phone. BUT, and its a big BUT, make sure that living in STX is the life for you.
