I need new Jepp binders and don't feel like paying $200 to replace them. Does anyone use anything from Office Depot, Staples, etc? Links appreciated!

Happy New Year!

I used 2 small(can't remember the actual size, just measure your Jepps), black 3" binders from Office Depot. They cost $1.99 each and lasted 2 years.

Yep, eBay! I got my one and only jepp binder for $14 (I think) on eBay. I stick my company airport directory and plastic enroute sleeves in binders from Office Depot.

Found these on OfficeDepot. Any problem with the pages ripping out with only 3 rings? Call me cheap, but my flight case broke, headset needs replacement, Jepp binders are on the last leg AND I'm on first year pay - so something has to give!

Thanks for the info!

All that damage and you are still on first year. Sounds like you need to take better care of your crap dude!

Yeah, well... My wife usually throws all my crap at me when I get home, so I go through stuff pretty quick.:smash:

If pages rip, just go to Tech pubs and get a new page...or get the paper buttholes from office depot why you are there to.

I had one of these, duct-tape held it together really well afer the vinyl kinda let go on it.

i don't work for an airline, but to me it sounds like you guys have to produce your own charts?or just the binders? either way i think the company should pay for this, no?

SkyWest makes their new hires buy their Jepps.
No longer true. Jepps are paid for, 2 uniforms and paid 60hrs/month. Still gotta get the binders though.

Just hang on for a few more months...I hear we're going paperless?...
I was thinking about that as well. If and when we go paperless, doesn't there need to be paper copies on the airplane? If so, who is going to keep them up to date? I'm thinking that they might make us carry them anyway. Anyone else paperless that can chime in on that one?

I've got a little press from Staples that puts clear rings around holes on pages. Put one top and bottom and your good to go in a three ring. Got to second ebay though. I've bought all my real leather 2" and 1" Jepp binders there and never paid more than $15 each!!!

The 2" Economy, at $37, isn't quite as expensive as the Jepps, but is of exceedingly high quality. Company started by XJT FOs... they make them in their garage.

Their bags are nice too. The 1" binder is slightly smaller than the standard Jepp 1". Also I think ASA makes really cheap Jepp binders. You can find them at most pilot shops for around $12.

Yeah, one would think. Depends on the airline. My last airline provided charts and binders, which I had to return when I resigned. My current one provides just the charts. Therefore, I'm using binders provided by yet another airline at which I interned in a previous life.

I get Jepp binders for free from my airline, but instead I use the 3-hole 1" binders from Wal-Mart; I think they're 99¢ per binder. This way, instead of 2 huge Jepp binders I now have 5 small ones divided A-E, F-J, etc. Makes it so much easier and I got much more space in my flight bag! (the Jepp binders overlap Jepp plates by more than an inch, whereas 1" binders are exactly the same size as the Jepp plates.)
