This is part of the reason I got BRS in my cub. The chances of a mid-air are higher than ever. It could cause a structural failure that may make flying the aircraft difficult or impossible. I know of too many mid-airs in my Air Force career and the original founder of this website died in a mid-air. I was on a 757 going into LAX, 3,000 AGL and we almost hit a cinematographer size drone 15 miles east of the airport as I saw it out my window and reported it to the cockpit. Birds, drones, other aircraft, all increase the dangers of aviation. I'll add that glass panels make it worse. People are distracted either in phones or glass panel avionics now. I was a passenger on a flight as I was getting back into aviation and it shocked me how much tinkering with Garmin was going on vs looking outside.
