I was just reading about this crash and came across something in the article.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/07/09/russia.crash/index.html

The pilot of the Airbus A-310 "was more than an experienced pilot," with over 900 hours of flying experience, Koshman said.

Can this be right?? I gotta think he meant 900 hours in the A-310.

I read another article about it citing a 1994 crash........"blamed on the pilots son inadvertantly disconnecting the autopilot". Yeah right!

That's true.

The pilot let his 15 yr old fly the airplane. He left the cockpit, and the kid started pushing buttons...

there is an excellent dvd about this crash in netflix, all he had to do was let the controls go, then flighting with it.... they nearly made it too..

Right, but the article made it sound like the acft will crash immediately when the autopilot is disconnected.

They usually will if the PIC is a jitterbug.
