USAIR still made 500M in 2006. With the new pension laws and 500M/yr profits they have a bunch of years to 'Re-fund' the pension fund. Thus providing employees their EARNED benefit....

Part of the agreement for the acquisition was the government taking over the pensions. America West never had pensions and if the pensions hadn't been taken over there would be no US Airways now.
