As lame as this post is i'll bite... I like local sport's bars. The food is decent as well as the beer and you can usually find some outgoing folks to chat with.

If the menu is paper attached to a leather holder and there are candles and cloth napkins it is too fancy for me...
 
If you are staying in the grapevine area (Dallas) got to try Bonedaddy's. The Bar-B-Que is good and the scenery is way better.
