1500/300 is set and stone because of cheaper INSURANCE. Its ashame because there are many qualified applicants below these mins, even below 1000 hrs. there are MANY qualified applicants. With proper training and guidance, a pilot with average skills is perfectly able to make the transition to the RJ, or even the vaunted E-170, at or below 1000 hrs.

I interviewed at RAH a few weeks ago and all but 1 of applicants were CURRENT 121 regional...........2 were Captains!! The other was 135.

See ya'all on the 30th(first day of class).

The "pull" of having a job that should be around for a few years at least. It is a nice feeling to have a job with some security.

What this looks like is a ploy to attract more/better candidates in their new hire classes. Promise the moon to get people on the property then not deliver on the back side. By then its to late for the employee.

1000 new pilots is about 100 new airplanes. If they started taking deliveries today they would have to take delivery of over four airplanes per month for the next 23 months to meet that target. Considering that there is nothing substantial already in place (and there won't be for at least several more months) this looks like total BS.

I had an interview with them scheduled for Nov. Fortunately I got an offer from a much better place, so I didn't have to go to Indy. Good luck to all the captains who will be single pilot with the low timers they are going to hire!

Gotta say it's hard to buy that idea when they have been firm on the 1500/300 for awhile, and they have still been able to attract pilots from other regionals. As long as there are crappy places that people want to leave before they have their PIC turbine, RAH will be in good shape (as long as they continue to treat their people well).

I'm starting to thing everyone looks at my avatar and not at my posts...
