I think you all missed the point...I did not realize Frontier had that much extra lift. Are they replacing those airplanes or are they downsizing the airline?

These are not "Frontier" aircraft, they are currently on the Republic Airways certificate.

The 170's were originally flying under a Frontier CPA but they became orphans when that was rejected in BK. They eventually began flying under a Midwest CPA, and then again as Frontier "branded" operations.

Bedford realized quickly that you can't fly a 170 against an Airtran 737, so he has been actively shopping around additional EMB capacity.

Thankfully DAL agreed to more 170's.

Now the 170's leave the branded operation, and the orphaned 145's get parked on a 1 to 1 basis in the second half of 2011 as the 190's arrive.

Republic Holdings uses the name "Frontier" whenever they are referring to any flying that is not "fee-for-departure".

The 8 170's were actually with S5 on the DL side. The 170's at F9 "the first time" were RW birds in all coach config and they were culled from the RW-US fleet. The S5 birds became "redundant" when the 175's came on line. They did, as you say, go to YX--but they never flew for F9 before they went from YX-->F9 after the purchase.

Small point of correction: there is no Republic "Airways" certificate. I think you meant to say the Republic "Airlines" cert.

If I owned an aircraft paint facility, I could have made a career on just painting Republic owned aircraft. Maybe BB should consider peel off decals on plain white paint.

Hey Wave....

opinion noise opinion noise opinion noise opinion noise....Repeat

Can you stop with the "World according to Wave" and become educated. You preach as if you were on the inside when all this went down, and sadly enough you weren't...but please stop injecting an opinion because you didn't get hired here.

BTW Your sorry A$$ gained from any scope that was released so you had a job......a job which got you the money to go buy a type rating and become a Herb turd.......you're welcome!

Are you sure about any of that made up rant Bill?
To say that anyone has "BENEFITTED" from outsourcing is truly ignorant.
No one will ever "thank" you for being a weak dicked pu$$y and giving up
scope, sellout.
All outsourcing has done for those working there is increase the competitive minimums at the majors and shorten our major airline careers-

One thing we can all agree on is that scope-release was a double edged sword. It created more overall pilot jobs but decreased the likelihood of a regional airline pilot from moving up to a major airline. This could be construed as "Distribution of Wealth."

Capt Morgan-
Some would say the rj increased the # of jobs-
Outsourcing the rj's has had very little benefit to a few at the top of regionals- at the expense of everyone else.
It was a shortsighted decision to outsource to begin with-
But to continue the practice.... As late as 2006....
Unbelievable.
