I doubt it. Direct, indirect, what difference does it make. Delta is funding United (Skywest and ASA) and Continental (Pinnacle nee Colgan). I think as long as someone will do it cheaper than mainline, Mommma Delta is happy with the arrangement.

Colgan, ASA and SkyWest do NOT own UAUA or DAL or any affiliated Holding Companies associated with operating as a Connection Carrier or competitor. Republic Holdings owns Frontier and as such is a direct competitor with UA and DAL.

So Skywest keeps all the money it makes flying for United in different pile than the money it makes flying for Delta. Now I get it.

No, SkyWest does not own or operate a brand and take Market Share from United or Delta. Frontier does. So does Midwest X. Take those 2 out and you're back in SkyWest, ASA or Colgan territory. Try calling the number and booking a seat. Can you do that on ASA, Colgan, or SkyWest? No. Well, technically you can if you're SkyWest but it is operated under AirTran.

You see, UAUA, DAL, and AirTran sell all seats on eachother's Connection Carriers. There is no competition. Can't say that for Frontier or Midwest X.

i thought skywest became a competitor to ual and dal with their airtran operation. You see both AirTran and Skywest on the advertisements

Very misleading header...since it is the YX Frequent Flyer program that Delta will no longer honor

You must not have a very good general knowledge. What where you expecting? How can delta part ways with republic when they've got a bunch of ejet and rjs flying for them? and no its not Midwest, they're gone. its just republic disguised in midwest colors.

The writing is on the wall... no code share airline like UAL, DAL or anayone in the future is going to pay a gauranteed profit via the Fee For Deptarture contracts and have the money ultimately fund a direct competitor.

Example:

F9 and UAL both leave IND bound for DEN.... the F9 Flight is operated on Airbus equipment and the UAL flight is a Shuttle America EMB170. Either way, the number of seat miles flown by "Bedford" has increased. UAL may see a loss or a net gain on that route. But regardless, Fee For Deptarture will provide a margine of cost plus x% profit through the Shuttle Certificate. Even if F9 breakes even, or loses slightly, "Bedford" still has a positive cash flow situation. Something that the boys at UAL, DAL, CAL aren't going to sit around are participate in... very long.

When the contracts expire... expect to see some airframes retired while others others may be reassigned to the "Home Team".

Of Course this all make to much sense... and the most logical move from the Majors under codeshare... would be to continue to fund a competitior, the costs would be offset by the effort to suppress any labor movement within DAL, CAL and Numb Nuts at Tilton UAL... Only to further exacerbate the labor tensions between mainline and outsourced regionals...

Either way... a demise is near.

It is past due for a call and a rise to action, starting with Congress. it is time to let the loophole of codesharing and the transparency of product liablity to be closed. Make the "Major" repsonsible for their "Regionals".... whatever the hell a regional is is anymore

This one is worth a .05

Maybe I am mistaken, but isn't the Skywest operation out of MKE, their branded flying? It is only a code share with AirTran
