Do you really mean that? Abort for "anything" above 80 KIAS?


Of course. It's unsafe to put a broken airplane in the air.




















For those who are too gullible to realize I was joking... the only things above 80 knots you should abort for are the "4 horsemen:" Fire, Engine failure (reverser deploy could be counted in this), Fear that the airplane won't survive if you put it in the air, and windshear.

So... fire, failure, fear, windshear. Easy, breezy, beautiful.

Listened to an informative recurrent ground school discussion concerning rejected takeoffs. Long and short was that generally speaking, there is no need to abort for amber cautions (even low speed). What are other pilots thoughts on this subject?

As long as you're below 80 knots... do what you want.

How is it exactly that you're supposed to have a windshear while you're on the ground? Or are you saying that you don't take off at all when they report LLWS?
 
atis reports LLWS all the time and everybody continues to take off.

It's different, however, if you're lined up ready to go and tower reports to you that there's a windshear alert, then you wait.
 
Or get airspeed stagnation mid takeoff roll.... or the predictive windshear warning goes off...

Those are the real deal. LLWS is very typically way oversensitive. I typically take that with a grain of salt and just go oto high alert.
