Regionals (Eagle) to start sheding Senion Pilots

From reading it seems like there are different opinions. But as always people like Diesel just want to come here and be negative and opposite to what everyone says. Everyone says white, he'll say black. Very typicall. Senior Eagle guys need to whatever work for their families. If they make 80K a year and are happy, and have excellent QOL then so be it. I have a friend at Eagle that's a 19 year captain in the embraer, the guy's making close to 100K, flies mostly 2 day trips and has every weekend off. Everytime i talk to him on the weekends he's at his son's soccer games, has a nice house and is happy with his job. He's in his late 40s so there's no point for him to seek a job with a major at this point. Going to a major for him at this point would most likely mean a huge paycut, commuting and reserve for god knows how long. If someone like Diesel would tell him that 100K is not enough to enjoy life then he would show him how wrong he is very very quick.

I think his priorities are pretty damn solid, and that earns him my deepest respect, way more than some stuck up BBJ driver who cares about his money first, and family second.

It just shows that you dont know, I might not make alot of money but I have a wife that takes care of me, when I get home from a two day trip she picks me up in the ONE car we have, we go to our APARTMENT where my little baby girl runs to my arms happy to see me, I sit at the table and my wife brings me a home cooked dinner made from scratch. We then sit and talk about our plans and how things are going. I play with my kid, laugh, enjoy every second. She goes to sleep my wife and I watch a blockbuster movie delivered to us, we have a beer, eat some popcorn and then after a good intimate two hours we go to bed, while i watch them both sleep and laugh at late night family guy i thank the good lord for giving me such a healthy family and marriage. We have family BBQ's and get togethers about 3 times a week were my parents and in-laws get to enjoy their grand kid. I take my kid and wife to Dave n Busters were we eat, laugh and play games. All this and at half 100K, all of this and my wife doesnt work, she can stay home take care of my baby, take care of my house and relax as much as she wants. So as you can see I still enjoy things with my family and take trips every year without any worries. Can you imagine how much peace I am going to have at 100K. Oh man! So dont try to make it seem that some of us make a little less are just tight on money, with no future and that our families are eating sh**, dumba$$.
Oh and I drive dont drive an electric car, but at the same time I dont need a Jaguar to be happy and a 1 million dollar house to be happy. I would not trade my loving, caring wife and baby for whatever you have.

The senior guys shouldn't be asked to leave because they are at the top of their scale. It shows a lack of respect the company has for them when they are willing to give up safety, knowledge, and experience for lower paid less experienced pilots.

I'm a schedule and qol type person. Although pay comes with experience.

You started all of this b/c someone said that 100K was pretty good pay, and here you come trying to show everyone that makes 100K that's not good money and they should make more like you do. Then once everyone proves you wrong about pay you try to justify it with QOL. Typical Diesel, you go from one justification to another. Secondly, no one is being asked to leave at eagle. I dont think you've been reading the thread. As usual you're just on here to contradict everyone.

18 year EMB-145 CA pay at AE is LESS than 3rd year 767/A300 FO pay. 757 pay is about the same.

AA has the same domiciles as AE (minus SJU, plus DCA, SFO, and STL). I don't buy the QOL/commuting reason for not wanting to flow.

The work rules at AA are about 10x better than at AE.

They've got a pension.

There are solutions that can be reached here.

1. Send AE flowthrus to AA at current pay (would cost AMR NOTHING since they'd be paying them all that hourly rate anyway if they stayed at AE). Then all 400+ FTs would probably go.

And........

2. Withhold AE flowthrus at AE until they can hold the domicile of their choice at AA.

That'd probably take care of everything.

I think APA would also have to go for it.......and that would probably be the tough part.

Mgmt. will always do what costs AMR less in the long run. That's why they don't have an official stance on what happens to flowthrus. It may benefit them to have them all go. It may benefit them to have none go. They'll make that choice based on which ever the case me be when the time comes for FTs to flow.

I don't see where he did that at all. In fact, seems to me that Flybet was the one who was judging other people by saying that 100k is more than enough for anybody and there's something wrong with you if you aren't happy with that much money. Diesel was just giving people a wake-up call about 100k not exactly being what it used to be.

Well, actually I made 123K last year, but that did include some OT and the usual flying you get paid for but never do.

A friend is an Super 80 captain at AA and makes about 140K. Definately better, but when you consider its got twice as many seats to generate revenue, the argument shouldn't be that 100K (2K per pax seat) isn't good for an Eagle captain, but should be, if an Eagle captain can make 100K (or more) for 50-seats, than why isn't a 135 seat Super 80 captain making 270K ?

Who is underpaid here ?

It would certainly be nice if Eagle paid me substantially better than the 100K+ I'm making now, and yes, it would have been great to have gotten to this level much sooner than I did (15+ years), but it is what it is and I can't change what happened in the past - I'm here now. Presently, I'm content with my income, especially when combined with my wife's 80K/year. My wife and I do just fine on 180K/year and live in a nice house in a nice part of SoCal and drive three nice Porsches (yes, they are my passion). We travel all over the world to places most people will never ever see in their lifetime. We flew on Concorde twice and I will always cherish those memories (1999 and 2000). We have wonderful family and my wife of 20 years is the best part of what I consider a pretty damn good life.

I decide a long time ago that I couldn't judge my success in life by what others did with theirs. I have my own life to live - and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it.

Btw, the whole notion that, in todays airline environment, AA pilots have a much higher QOL in terms of schedules, etc. than AE, is generally not true anymore. I have plenty of friends on that side of the house and their life sounds just like ours these days. They certainly used to have great work rules, but those disappeared shortly after the fallout from 9/11 began to fall. Take a look at a typical AA pilot's schedule for the month and you'll see that it looks pretty similar to ours. Those guys get worked hard these days. It's not like it used to be.
