Went to the open house today, was told my biz jet experience that weighs 37.5 tons wasn't going to cut mustard. All because it wasn't an "airliner". oh well maybe get them next time.

Well then I guess it's a great thing that I have Avro time and don't have to rely on CRJ time (and yes I know the CR9 is more than 30T) But it is just a glorified Challenger business jet so by that definition I'd say I only have about 500 hours "real airplane time"

I guess the info at the open house isn't all up to date. They emailed me for a pre selection interview being held in atlanta in about 2 weeks.

Dude seriously? Haha

I can make a 10 page thread by myself with links of disturbing news not of the whole US but just the Atlanta area alone!

ASA/XJT has had at least two attempted muggings on crews within the last year

I can confirm the above regarding 30 ton rule. Still in effect. I just got denied for not having time in a 30 ton aircraft, and that's after getting sent an invite for the ATL assessment.

I am saddened. I had already spent $130 dollars on prep material/things for the assessment. Luckily though, I had not booked a room yet at the Atlanta Hilton. That would have been another $110.

:(

Very true. But there's something totally different between having the freedom to be mugged and the freedom to shoot the thugs versus having many, many freedoms taken away to live in a sterile area just to fly a commercial airliner which just about everyone applying already is doing.

If there isn't crime and your not gonna get mugged, you don't need a gun.

Seriously though, you said many freedoms taken away to live in a sterile area. Please name the "MANY freedoms" that are taken away from me by living here. Making out in public or screwing on the beach doesn't count. If I get the wild hair to do that I will just go to Europe where women have the FREEDOM to go topless on the beach, unlike in the US.

Look, I understand some there are people such as yourself who are fine and happy living and working out of Dubai for Emirates. But much like being and airline pilot in general, there IMHO can be too much of the dream mentality to fly a heavy jet at any cost. Many can get tunnel vision in the process and it's a favor to all unlike my signature, to brief the entire arrival.
