But much like being and airline pilot in general, there IMHO can be too much of the dream mentality to fly a heavy jet at any cost. Many can get tunnel vision in the process and it's a favor to all unlike my signature, to brief the entire arrival.

Seriously??...this is what your response sounded like to me:

Other banned items include pornographic material, non Islamic religious pamphlets for missionary activities, fireworks, ivory, weapons & ammunition, chemical and organic fertilizers, laser pens, radar jammers/other unauthorized communication devices, endangered animal species, and any objects, sculptures, paintings, books or magazines which do not adhere to the religious and moral values of the UAE.

Hmmm. I have satellite TV and see all the goodies there, have a VPN connection on the internet and have never liked religious pamphlets nor do i want them (Muslims don't hand them out). Give me something realistic here instead of these petty things that you probably wouldn't own or want anyway.

Freedom to form a union, freedom to fill out an ASAP, freedom to declare bankruptcy, freedom to get a translator if arrested and go to trial, freedom to vote in a democratically elected group of politicians, freedom to speak out against the slavery going on there

On unions and ASAP, I can understand the concern. I actually like the bankruptcy law here, it is very responsible. You either pay for your stuff or you go to jail...the way it should be so that the people who are honest and work hard don't have to pay for the monetarily clueless people's mistakes. I still vote in US elections so I still vote in democratic elections. As far as your "slavery" claims go.....Do you realize that the guys that are here working are making far more money than they would have ever made in their home country? While the conditions are far from ideal and they pay is far from ideal for them it beats the slavery that existed in the US. Manual labor jobs are still manual labor jobs here and they don't pay well. If you want to make money here, go to school and get an education

Also, why would you need a translator here when everyone speaks English?

I actually wish this was here in the US. Sick and tired of the entitlement attitude and people wanting to be bailed out for their overspending and poor financial decisions.

I can confirm the above regarding 30 ton rule. Still in effect. I just got denied for not having time in a 30 ton aircraft, and that's after getting sent an invite for the ATL assessment.

I am saddened. I had already spent $130 dollars on prep material/things for the assessment. Luckily though, I had not booked a room yet at the Atlanta Hilton. That would have been another $110.

:(

i am hoping something similar doesn't happen to me because of my non airliner time. I would have thought Ek would pay for your room in ATL? What prep material are you using? I have just been reviewing what is on the forums. Any advice is appreciated.

I bought Skytest online for 69.90 Euro. Roughly 100 USD.

Is having a family member or yourself acquire an illness such as cancer always considered a poor financial decision?

I received a follow up email from a captain un-inviting me to ATL. However in the email is was addressed to a different name than mine. I replied asking to clarify my status, we'll see what happens.
