Correct me if I'm wrong...but an ATP is usually a pre-requisite for an accelerated course, no?You can take accelerated courses just about anywhere they offer the dispatch course. Accelerated courses are usually in the two week range vs. the standard 6 week course.

(I'm totally not current on those things, so I could be way wrong.)
Well when i worked in Eugene.....
I am curious if anyone has gone from flying 121 to working 121 dispatch? If so I am looking for information on the training. Was it accelerated?
An applicant for an aircraft dispatcher certificate must present documentary evidence satisfactory to the Administrator that he or she has the experience prescribed in paragraph (a) of this section or has accomplished the training described in paragraph (b) of this section as follows:
(a) A total of at least 2 years experience in the 3 years before the date of application, in any one or in any combination of the following areas:
(1) In military aircraft operations, as a --
(i) Pilot;
(ii) Flight navigator; or
(iii) Meteorologist.
(2) In aircraft operations conducted under part 121 of this chapter as --
(i) An assistant in dispatching air carrier aircraft, under the direct supervision of a dispatcher certificated under this subpart;
(ii) A pilot;
(iii) A flight engineer; or
(iv) A meteorologist.
(3) In aircraft operations as --
(i) An Air Traffic Controller; or
(ii) A Flight Service Specialist.
(4) In aircraft operations, performing other duties that the Administrator finds provide equivalent experience.
(b) A statement of graduation issued or revalidated in accordance with §65.70(b) of this part, showing that the person has successfully completed an approved aircraft dispatcher course.
shooter... although I'm not disagreeing with your post.... i'm just sayin most schools are so hard up for more students and rakin in the cash they'll take any student (an accelerated one too at that if the ultimatum is stated that the accelerated student doesn't want to do the full 5 weeks.)
True dat. I think the majority of the Country is hurting for cash right now.
I was just letting him know that if he does not want to take a class and just take the exam that he can. Most of us fall under letter (b) in regard to how we became qualified to take the exam because we wanted to Dispatch. He would fall under (a) because he already is a 121 pilot and to now wants to be a Dispatcher. That is not very common.
ahhh, got ya... well, anyways, Happy Thanksgiving all!!
May the forks be with you.

Another reason this is my last aviation job.
