I'm just curious. If the pilots at NJ do decide to go on strike, what is the plan if management bunkers down? Rumors are that Mr. Buffet has been making arrangements with charter companies to handle the traffic until the pilot group breaks. It may seem that Netjets has the money to weather the storm. I'm a positive person and hope the pilot group wins this one. It would be beneficial to the entire industry.

I'd be curious about how management thinks they could do this - given NJ's messaging and offerings, I can't see how the company could handle this. If I was an owner and the bulk of NJ flying headed into the 135 market, I am not sure I would stand for that at all.

Also, anybody else notice the billboard out at Teterboro?

All I know is that if I were a Citation X share owner at NJA and a ratty Lear 55 or a Hawker 700/800 or a Citation III picked me up, I wouldn't be so happy. No offense to Lear 55, Hawker 700/800, or Citation III drivers out there. If I spent a lot of money on a fractional share, I wouldn't want a "contingency" aircraft picking me up for weeks on end... I'd be pretty pi$$ed...

Anybody going to elaborate on the billboard at TEB? I've been fortunate and haven't been there for a while.

NutJets just might be dumb enough to try and weather the storm so, frankly, let them do it.

There are simply not enough charter outfits to cover a 300-400-500 revenue leg day that will be Wyvern approved. Between NJI, EJM and charter they maybe able to cover around 200 flights but that should be about it.
Now take into consideration the amount of owners refusing to fly on an airplane that doesnt have a QS tail number. Lastly, why would a charter outfit drop all their regular customers to help NutJets for a few days or weeks knowing when the strike is finished they will never hear from them again. I understand there are several charter outfits who primarily specialize in NutJets sell offs but for the majority it just doesnt make sense.

It comes down to the customer and their plane. The place I work sometimes does a NJ or Options flight, but they are rare and the custome does know it's not a NJ plane. They aren't mad as long as it's far and few. I think the customers know exactly what's going on. They trust their fractional and don't want to fly with anyone else. I think the management is just waiting till the last possible moment. It's a common story.

Now if NJ DOES go on strike and all the charter outfits pick up the slack.....are the various pilot groups therefore guilty of flying struck work?

What if US Airways picks up a particularly large charter? Would the members of ALPA fly the trips?

In my opinion no. Im employed by a 135 operator to fly, Im just doing my job.

Now if NJ Mgmt hires outside pilots to fly NJ aircraft than yes Id consider that-- the exact definintion of being a scab. Hope you guys get a good contract before it gets ugly.

Hey Broke,

The pax do know if its a netjets or Options plane they are getting on. We have owners complain when we have a plane with the wrong friggin paint scheme! Oh thats an old Beechjet Im not riding that. You better believe they know. Plus you guys don't dress near as cool as we do. Our ties all look alike. Just an observation from a glorified taxidriver with one of the fractionals you occasionally cover trips for. Although Im sure youre doing it more now and will in the near future.
