Get a full time job at the school so you get free tuition. Graduate 4 years late with no loans, a nice retirement account, and a great reference. Get a regional job and start buying cool stuff instead of paying off loans. Its a win-win situation.

How do you guys expect to pay off your school loans with a $21.00 an hour regional job? No flame, just curious.

Easy. Daddys account.Throw in a VW Jetta too. You can get the same ratings at the local mom&pops FBO for3/4 less.

Well, after you graduate you may need to get your CFI/I. Take out another loan for that. Then you get hired as a CFI at a local flight school making $20/hour. Barely pay both student loans, car payment/insurance, rent, etc when you have a GOOD month. Then October comes around and its OVC 002 everyday. Play the "who can wait" game with your bills. Come to the realization that the light at the end of the tunnel is the Regionals, and I would have to take a paycut. Look for other employment. Become a broker. Then everytime you go to work, think about how much you miss flying. Dream about convincing the boss that the company NEEDS a Baron to cut down on travel expenses. Sell a couple of airplanes, pay off debt, build multi time, apply for a regional. Personally I can't see any other way of doing it. :D

Ouch! Reading those costs even hurts me. Sorry guys.
Don't mean to rub it in, but I don't regret my route.

2004 Riddle Grad here, i remeber when i started i think the school was 425 a credit hour, and the fix price program was available, i wish i would have done it ( mom for the misleading deposit program, basically pay as you go). i completed my PPL Instrument in the AGATE program... NASA and ERAU program.. Spent tons of money! Changed my major and stopped flying there! Grad with 120k in the hole. i know I couldnt deal with the pay in the regionals so i got in to aircraft sales. Been having a blast doing it and get to fly some fun equipment, pay can be good too.

UGGGGG all my loans will be paid off in less than a month....

CAN'T WAIT!!!

I instructed for a year right out of school. Then got a real job for four years and settled-up. Now I just have to figure out how to explain the "non-aviation" employment gap. Is "starving-to-death" a viable excuse?

No, I think you can blame it on PFT jerks who will pay even more money to go fly in a big King Air with things hanging off it! Oh, I forgot, they get to put on uniforms and act like they are pilots. Purchase Pilot Wings!

Actually that has nothing to do with the reason Riddle is so expensive. Are you sure of what you are saying? Because you obviously have no idea what PFT is. Nor, do you know any people from my airline because 99% of them aren't "jerks".

If you are going to direct something to me, say it to my face. I will be glad to meet you when you fly in. If you can make an statement such as that, then say it behind your true identity.

You mean after you got hammered in your post about Girl Scout cookies you still don't get it? When I see myself, I can say I worked my tail off to be where I am. I will fly my 300 hrs this year, bring in my 6 figures and know that I never had to pay to play Pro Pilot Wannabe! And, BTW On other avaition websites, there are many people there who know who I am. You can even see where I live! But wait, there are professional pilots over there in every sense of the word! I don't think you would do well "over there!"

Yeah, ok. And you are telling me to grow up? Sounds like you have some personal issues.

BTW I have lost bigger arguments that the one you mentioned. Or, did you just want to say Girl Scout because it makes you think of 9 year olds? Take that to "grown up land".

Don't know where you got personal issues out of that one. Professional Pilots do not pay an "airline" to sit in the seat. They are paid by said airline. Looks like there are some bottom feeder "airlines" where you can go make 17k/yr and pay off that massive loan you have to pull the gear and talk on the radio.

You angry about something there buddy?

Professional pilots shouldn't be judging anyone on any level of professionalism. You know nothing about me. You have no right to assume anything about me or my career. Nor do you have the right to assume about anyone at my airline. Move along.

I go to an extended-campus location and fly at a local flight school.....Do I at least get a pass? ;)
