I wouldn't even entertain the idea of doing this. What's the harm in saying no? So you pass up one hour of single engine recip. time. Big deal. don't do it.

501261,

You say why be concerned about FARs if you're not a professional pilot!?

This is a heck of an attitude for a professional pilot to be advocating. The FARs are not in place for professional pilots, they are there for everyone. Occasionally they seem to make no sense, but for the most part they exist to make up for some people's lack of common sense, and to protect persons and property from harm.

Thanks for all the input everybody,

iflyforfood,

I called Sandy, they will be doing it on the ground, taping the sounds and dubbing in the radio show. This avoids any possibility of any FSDO getting involved.

I think allot of people on this board are unfamiliar with Mancow, if they were, they would know his weekly pranks and stunts are ficticious and should be taken as such. Pilots by nature are serious, they should be, but like other people eluded to, you guys are WAY TOO SERIOUS.

It's light humor, the demographics of this show appeal mainly to the South Park crowd. You wouldn't call 911 if every time Kenny gets killed would you? Turd gets injured and almost killed every week, nobody takes this stuff seriously.

Finally, avbug is correct as usual, no need to go anywhere to make this program fly....pun intended. Again, thanks for everyones input.

Flywrite,

You're right the FAR's are for everyone, but think about it logically.

What are the FAA's enforcement powers, they can fine you (maximum of $1000 per violation, for non-hazmat), or suspend your license, but not both. Now if I had my license suspended for 30 days I'm out a ton of money and will very possibly be fired. To me the FAA's enforcement policies work very, very well.

On the other hand if I'm a doctor or lawyer, do I really care if I can't take my little Malibu out for a month, or for that matter do I really care if the FAA suspended my license, I might go fly any way. There's been lots of cases of farmers out west that have been flying around there ranches without pilot licenses. What's the FAA going to do revoke a license they don't have? It would be like the AMA revoking my medical license, I'm not a doctor (though I did stay at the Holiday Inn Express last night), so who cares?

What I was trying to get to Tdturbo at is there are other laws than the FAR's that would affect him more.

TDTurbo sounds like a good solution! I wish I lived up there to listen to it

We may change things tomorrow, I would rather Turd get sick and pretend to puke all over the inside of the plane causing me to throw up all over him and the avionics.

The great mess and ensuing chaos would be a typical day in the life of Turd. I think this could be extremely funny to a listener that is safe and clean on the ground.

Try to tune in to Q101 tomorrow morning and find out. :D

Any other suggestions might be helpful, we are just kinda wing'in it!

I just received the tape of the show a few minutes ago, it was funny as hell!

I told them, while on the air, that I didn't think it would be a good idea to go flying since I was depressed, the weather was bad and I had been drinking all night with a hangover.

We get back on the air on the take off roll and everything is going fine, Turd is making noises of joy, I talk to Mancow and tell him we are going to do some "maneuvers".

The show breaks and we get back on and Turd begins to get sick, in the ensuing struggle to find a sic-sac, he hurls all over the radio stack, which then causes me to puke all over him. The sound effects were awesome! The radios then short out along with the gear extension switch.

Mancow goes to break and we come back with me passed out covered in vomit and Turd screaming that we are going down and he doesn't know how to fly......This goes on for a minute or two and the show is out of time and ends.

Naturally, all this is b.s but it sounded excellent. The show got a million calls wondering what happened.

Since this was done on the ground it was all legal.....I checked.:D

No one called the police or emergency vehicles, hard to do when they didn't have a clue were we were, and everything went off without a hitch.

I can't believe no-one mentioned it or heard the show on this board since it's nationally syndicated.

It was fun, both FBO's on the field loved it. Just another day in the life of Turd.

I have an audio CD of the show edited with just the Turd stuff on it but have no idea how to post it. If you have someway to host it or if its possible to e-mail it, I will. Maybe you could host it and provide a link.

If you can encode it as an mp3 I can host it. Or send a copy of the CD to me I can rip it and host it too. Send me an e-mail for details [email protected]

No offense, but it doesn't surprise me... Most people on this board are way above the "Mancow" mentality...

Falcon,
No offense taken.
I figured most of the older "captains" like yourself wouldn't be interested but assumed that a good majority on this board were half my age, hence the assumption.

Well, I'm glad to hear you did the stunt on the ground, but I can't help but wonder what a statement like "I'm depressed, the weather's bad and I drank all night and have a hangover... let's go" will do for our already poor image as pilots.

Nice job...you have done wonders for the general public's image of general aviation...hungover, depressed private pilots flying around in bad weather. No wonder people have such a warped view of what flying is all about.

I hope you enjoyed your 15 minutes.

I guess you proved one thing...you dont have to be smart to be a pilot.

Flyright, ifly4food (et al),

Flying is like eating oysters, either you love'em or hate'em. There isn't much middle ground with flying, either people will or won't.

I sincerely doubt that most people on this board want the listeners of this show flying small planes anyway. In fact, I think the whole "young eagles" program is uni-dimensional, self serving bureaucracy. Why do I, or you, care if a bunch of people want to learn how to fly? I sure as hell don't want any more airplanes buzzing around ATA's.

As it is you can't even give a position report without being walked on the Unicom freq. I could care less if there are a "thousand" less applicants because they believe everything on the Mancow show. Lets not forget about the, sport and recreational" pilot certificates, now that's a great idea.

Just what I want is a bunch of marginal aviators crowding an already jammed pattern. Gee, lets turn flying into something as easy and popular as driving for the, "good"' of the sport.........NOT!

But hey, it's all-good for the CFI, the more students the better right? Who cares about the long-term consequences of stuffing an already over capacity bureaucracy. The CFI's need the hour’s don't they?

The show at best would serve only to screen out the idiots which btw your profession has many. Just take a look at all the "flying 121 under the influence violations that occurred this year alone. Just take a look at what your colleagues are willing to do to f*ck you out of a job......pft.

While were at it, lets all have 6 or 10 kids, the world could use more sticky fetuses running around, burning natural resources, leveling rain forests, increasing congestion on the highways and polluting. But hey, congratulations Johnny on your new boy! When you gonna have a daughter?

The worlds not f*cked up enough, lets add to it.

There are allot of things that I am pissed off about but bite my tongue for the sake of harmony, but certain things need to be spelled out. So all you people on your soap box can get off now, not everyone on this board has or cares about YOUR own selfish agendas.

With that, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving and enjoy the soon to be up linked show, remember, it's just a d*mn show for juveniles!
:D

::: sniff sniff ::: :(

I'm only 34!

Whoa there, TD Turbo! You totally missed the point!

This isn't about fostering the image of aviation so that more people want to fly. This is about fostering the image of aviation so that the nonflying public doesn't continue to tell its representatives in Washington that we "cowboy" pilots are a dangerous security risk and need to be stopped.

By putting forward the bad image you perpetuated, we are actually working to lose our flying privileges.

I'm not taking sides in this one because I think valid arguments exist for each; but IFF, did you ever see the drunk pilot skit on the Man Show, and if so, what did you think about it? Personally I thought it was hilarious, and if I remember correctly, it was produced before the AW pilots got in trouble this summer, which makes it even more clever. Not picking, just curious.

i hope someone gets a link up i'd like to hear that. i could use a good laugh because after all it was SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY! since the begining of time humans have laughed at ourselves (SNL) but some poeple find fault in anything but anyway glad your not in jail and by the way nice speech tdturbo i hope you don't mind if i write you in for president next time around.

too funny

Thank you Frankbama for your kind words and infinate wisdom for choosing me as president.:D

I sent the cd to Shawn and he was unable to decode it, I need somebody that can put it into mp3 format and host it. The media as it stands is just a straight cd. Frank, I could just send you the cd I guess.

TD has afforded himself the opportunity to do something that he loves to do -> F L Y - By all means he hasn't done anything to compromise or destroy an already tarnished "image" that surrounds quite abit of this industry. People take too many minor things way too seriously and it seems to be the norm here pertaining to certain posts. If one is THAT concerned about the bad press and publicity regarding our industry then DON'T do anything that would harm your credentials or tarnish YOUR image. ! ! - Who cares about the rest and the stereotypes (blah, blah, blah )and everything else that goes on in the industry .??? I know I sure don't since I can only control my own fate and my own actions and NOT anyone else's.:D :D - The G O O D outweigh the bad and as long as that is the case then we can afford a good laugh once in awhile.

I did get a kick outta out of that and sure it gave a few if not alot many laughs.
