I think your blame is misguided-look at the management team in place there at ASA. Is it the union's fault that you have to check your paycheck every month for major errors? Is it their fault that you can't get monthly bid awards out on time? How would being non-union solve these problems? I don't think it makes a difference either way whether you have one or not for stuff like this. Not a union cheerleader at all here, I just think the blame can be spread around a little more.

You're missing the point. How is it Skywest's fault that we all have to compete with each other? How is it Skywest's fault that most of the downward pressure on ASA comes from UNION carriers? I'm not blaiming everything on ALPA. I'm also not blaiming Skywest and I'm not blaiming them for not being union either.

I would much rather work for Skywest without any union than work for Mesa, or Trans States, or Republic, or the old ASA with a union. The union is largely powerless in this market driven business and it is much more important to have good management.

Which regional management would you rather have? In the end, whether or not we are ALPA has little to do with what we will make and what rules we work under. In the end, as long as we are union, Skywest will always be separate and will always get treated better. Not saying I like that, but I believe that is what will happen.

The blame is spread around...However none of it really can be pointed at Skywest. They are players in a game, and they play it better than most. I hate the game, and I admire those who play it well. ALPA hasn't played so well.

Air Whiskey has furloughed. Air Whiskey lost the United contract because of their cost. You need to worry more about Pinnacle than Skywest. The downward pressure is coming from your union "brothers and sisters".

They have the pay and work rules because they coat-tail ASA. Mechanics are a good example. ASA and Skywest paid mechs poorly. ASA unionizes and Im sure Skywest will match to keep Skywest mechs from unionizing, also. I have no doubt that if ASA left ALPA it would mean cuts in pay and benefits for both pilot groups. And now with the merger you can stop wasting your time on the "eliminate ALPA" pipe dreams. There are 2500 xe pilots that will now set our union policy. ALPA will stay and PBS will go, fortunately.

As a dues paying member of an collective bargaining organization, you are legally entitled for annual financial reports and Corporate Income Tax Filings. Put your request(s) in writing and see what kind of 'attention' you will garner from your Union Reps'.

1. Have you ever considered, How many 'dues paying members' worker productivity at XYZ Airline will be required to fund your pension after you leave XYZ Airline?

2. Have you ever considered, after the Union takes their cut from your check and XYZ Airline that hasn't turned a profit in 6 of the last 8 quarters; IS ANYTHING YOU currently produce/save for XYZ Airlines funding those currently retired and earning 80% or more of their pre-retirement pay level.

3. Have YOU Considered also, that PAYROLL is the largest expense of any operating Company in the US and now that Payroll is essentially Doubled with every retirement?

4. Have you considered, that if pensions for people who no longer work for XYZ Airlines were eliminated from their balance sheets, the Company would be very profitable and shareholders would receive substantial quarterly dividends and returns for holding XYZ Airlines?

-The 'PRE-TAX' withholding is a sham to conceal the Union's pilfer of your labors' fruit.

The only reason Skywest pays anywhere near what other regionals do is to remain competitive so they don't lose all their pilots. It's the union company's that have done all the hard work and gotten the pay where it is. Without the unions, you guys would all be flying for $10/hour.

Skywest and the others are just living off the hard work of the other pilot groups.

And what has Skywest pilots contributed to that program or to ASAP or FOQA, or hundreds of other safety initiatives funded by ALPA member dues? Absolutely NOTHING! Yet I'm sure that ALL of them use one of those programs.
