i bet none of you would be caught flying that ugly bird, would you?:D

Hey, you can't see the paint from the inside! Besides that, it's nothing a really dark pair of Oakleys couldn't take care of.

and did you notice the photographer's comment? LOL

I managed to picture this beautiful aircraft just seconds before they took it in the Bombardier's finishing center in Montreal. Amazing livery, first time I see an "skull and cross bones" on an aircraft... Anyone have more info on this particular livery? New reg to airliners.net as well.

Was in at Burbank earlier, a BD-700 (Global Espresso) for you flatfoots among us.

Any who, this contraption from a distance seem to be unfinished, grayish and with exposed panels, upon closer scrutiny you see it’s actually the paint scheme with huge exaggerated painted on rivet heads all over it (big ole button heads), a weird vent like orifice painted on the vertical, windows (elongated and exaggerated) outlined in a flat gray and enormous panel lines running all over the darn thing.

It’s retched looking!!!

Who owns this Frankenstein, hodgepodge of a jet? I think the reg. was N2T, wasn’t that close to it to be 100% positive but that reg. Is registered to Bombardier out of DFW.

Anyone seen this beast, believe me you can’t miss it.

I love you, man!

From my somewhat parochial perspective, I've always thought that the Global Express looked squatty and bloated, but this is a particularly nasty example of the breed.

Amen GVFlyer!!!

I’m with you one the squatty and bloated issue; I’ve always thought that Bombardiers products, the Challenger line was, well, a bit “chubby” looking.

Nothing like a Sleek Sexy Savannah Sweetie to dress up a ramp now is there?

(I cannot stand it when Toyota parks their GLEX next to their G-IV over LGB way, their outta be a law against that):D

To me the Espresso has the typical Challenger nose, but there is just something about the empennage that just don’t sit to well with me and I’m not quite sure what it is either.

I’ve also heard that the numbers actually don’t add up performance wise, most all their records we taken with a stripped, unfinished jet, while all the G-V records were usually broken with a delivery flight and she (the espresso) is a maintance nightmare, part penguin or something…

I’m holding out on the hope we will acquire some of those G-VSP’s in the next coupla years, we had a pair of straight fives on order but sold the slots just after they announced the SP.

On the down side though, the boss wants a larger cabin for his longer trips and is eyeballing a BBJ or ACJ as we spend a considerable amount of time airborne and Airbus is courting him heavily, even proposed to under cut Boeing by 8% on a similar equipped airframe, our boss is Japanese so either is fine with him, but I got this sneaking feeling that we’ll be one of the first US based “Borg Jet” Operators sometime real soon.

There's an Elephant Bar in Destin, FL/ Nowhere near CA, but a great place to be on the 4th, or any summer holiday . . . . the tooth/tattoo ratio might be kinda low, but there will definitely be enough American flag bikinis to have you standing at attention. . . .

Hmmm. I was holding short the other day when that big grey thing landed. I got a kick out of it (I'm a simpleton).

I was under the impression it was the Bombardier factory jet, though!

oakley jet

IT was painted by a friend of mine who is based in NJ. the cost was $250,000 IT took five days to complete with a team of five guys. It was painted in YUL.

I watched the Global leave from Hilton Head Island on it's record run to Maui. It was an uncompleted "Green" airplane. As you suggest, most of their record attempts were made in green aircraft. All of Gulfstreams records were made carrying passengers in completed aircraft with the exception of the time to climb record (13:30 to 51,000 ft.) which was accomplished prior to any of the GV's being completed.

I have friends at Sprint, AIG and TAG who tell me that they are missing the ranges published in the AFM Cruise Charts by about 8%. One of the UT pilots
was telling me that their new GEX was over a year in completion and now that they have it, it's not meeting the flight planning fuel burns.

The Global Express claims to be a technology leader, but there's some items not available on it that are standard on the GV. For instance, the GEX has no auto descent mode, no automatic fuel heating system, no air to air heat exchangers, no capability for flight control manual reversion, and no back-up pitch control system.

I hope you're successful and it's not just because I hold GD stock, the GV is really a pilot's airplane and you'll enjoy flying it.

"Borg Jet," Ha!

I think the Boeing is a better jet now that they've fixed their rudder actuator problems. It's designed to keep the pilot "in the loop." The AirBus Industries approach is to protect the airplane from the pilot. Subsequently, in the ACJ, the autopilot is always on, the closest you can get to getting rid of it is a momentary interrupt with a TCS system. When you press "Approach" the controls freeze up and their is no movement in the cockpit. Eerie, but I guess you can get used to anything.

There should be some good deals on available BBJ's. Netjets has only sold 1.5 of their 8 BBJ's. I think any of the undelivered positions would be available. I also think that after an initial rough start E Systems at Waco did a better job on completions for them then did Lufthansa Technique.

Best of Luck,

GV
